A part of me wishes I hadn't ordered that one lab test last night. Kinda like I could just imagine it never happened. They forgot to tell us at the BYU premed office that wewould be risking our own health.

I still can't figure out what you're talking about. I guessed HIV, because it's the only exposure that 1) you get an immediate lab test following the exposure, 2) you go on medication, and 3) would be worth posting about. Influenza could fit 1 and 2, but certainly not 3, unless we want to hear from everyone on the board who is exposed to the flu (hint: we don't). I'm convinced that the reason I don't get the flu every year is that the various strains inhabiting my body can't seem to pick a clear winner. I guess you could get an immediate lab test confirming the flu, but I can't imagine it would turn positive that quickly after exposure; I've never tested this out as I've never seen an employee be tested through 7 flu seasons as a doctor.

The flu, you can order a terribly unreliable rapid test and treat. I could think of many circumstances where it would be worth posting. What if it were in a neutropenic floor or other similar situation? Truly you can think of a situation where having the flu would blow chunks (nicu).
