    men are pigs

Every year my husband and older son go up to the mountains for the whole summer. I join them for a while over the Fourth of July.

They have their own place they stay at near his parents. Normally his mom helps out a little around the apartment, but this year she's been too busy.

Do you have any idea what an apartment looks like after five weeks inhabited by two unsupervised males with no female intervention? The bathroom looked like it had been used for target practice. You couldn't see anything in the mirror. The kitchen countertops were lost under piles of dishes and food. (They had run out of dishes some time ago and simply switched to eating out.) I sent enough clothes for ten days - they had been there five weeks and hadn't done laundry once. I'm pretty sure some of the socks had become sentient.

I spent most of the time up there trying to reclaim the house from the entropy. I did a pretty bang up job (if I do say so myself), and I thought Flash would be grateful that I'd helped out. But, alas, he merely complained that "Now I can't find anything!!"

    harumph. men.

You must not have a scary face. Had that been myself and HFN Jr. we would have been up all night the night before putting a man-cleaning on the place. Work on your scowl.

That's what they did the last two years, which is why I was so totally caught off guard to walk into that mess this year. I mean, I'm not the best housekeeper, but I couldn't even stand to be in there. There's a third male - my son's 8-year-old cousin - coming to stay for the month. I shudder to think what the conditions will be like in a couple of weeks.

Guilty as charged. One of the reasons I stopped dating was after dinner we would come to my place to watch a movie. Instead of that I got the, why don't we clean up this place. Embarassing.

There's something sexy about women who WANT to clean up after me.

yeah, but I rather doubt that was 71's objective in inviting the young lady over.

It would have been nice if I had taken it that way. I took it as a sign we were going to skip the romantic part of the relationship and move right to the fixing me part.

this will come as a shock to basically nobody, but I get grossed out by dirty bathrooms. That usually means hair all over the place.

what do you do about the hairbrush in the drawer? Or do you have your wife buy a new one every week?

I have a helper. She comes every Monday for four hours. Cleans the kitchen, bathroom, floors, folds my clothes, irons my shirts, etc.... I can't imagine ever having to start doing those things again.

Do you ever go into a public restroom and there is a urinal with just tons of hair on it? I always wonder what kind of person was in there before me as I try to push the hairs down the drain with my flow.

Simple. Buy home that has separate sinks and drawers in the bathroom.

I don't share my side with her and she knows it bugs me when I catch her using my sink to brush her teeth or whatever. She is pretty good about cleaning up the hair and not blow drying her hair on my side of the bathroom counter.

I don't get women. They are so meticulous about some things, then they all own this disgusting hair brush that amasses clumps of hair. I've seen some brushes that look like emergency wig kits. That is the last thing on Earth I would want to put on my head. Seriously. That doesn't seem disgusting to you? A half pound of old hair stuck on your brush? "Awesome....I think I want to run that thing through my hair!"

I know what you mean. What is going on with some guys? Mix in some Nioxin or maybe some Rogaine on your genitals every once in awhile.

That is why I try to avoid public restrooms when possible. Standing up is acceptable. Sitting down is totally unacceptable. I don't care. I'd rather leave an event early and go home than sit down on those nasty public toilets. Don't even get me started on airplane toilets.
