From my Oregon tour, taking a soft shot and at least improving it.

Here's my original edit (which has background problems):

Here's the original untouched image (other than the crop), not sharp at all:

Here's with Lightroom adjustments only, bring back some contrast and a slight boost to the saturation:

Here's taking the right approach, created two layers, Smart sharpen 4.6 pixel radius layer behind gaussian blur layer. Used layer mask to paint the sharpening on the foreground. Note the background is smoothed out with the weird sharpening artifacts smoothed out.

I'm more concerned about the little fellow stuck in the bush, getting left behind.

Occasional reminder that the end product of what the camera produces isn't always representative of what gets published. Exposing to the right (ETTR) captured maximum information, but was too bright for that actual scenes. (these may show up again in my Oregon trip thread).

Wow. Pretty big differences - especially on that last one.

Combination of factors: kid at BYU wanting to come home for the summer (but now because of an eight week stay at home order will stay in Provo through the summer) it was easier to cross a closed border by land to retrieve him; Dad dying of cancer; chance to get my first shot of the Moderna vaccine instead of the blood clotting Astra Zeneca vaccine so graciously shared with Canada by the Biden admin; a chance to escape the aforementioned eight week stay at home order and wander in the back yard of the notoriously wealthy Lebowski!

I think this thread works for this. 50 years ago the dam above Rexburg broke. I ended up on Main St with some friends and took a picture while the city was flooded. Last Friday we got together and took a photo close to the same location with most everyone and me getting into the picture this time. It was fun to get together again

That is awesome. I love that the one guy repeated the shirtless pose.
