Off to Great Britain and Denmark for 12 days tomorrow. 2 days in London, 4 days in Scotland, 2 in Copenhagen and then back to London and finally home

We are going with Mrs Happy's BFF since Kindergarten and are kinda letting them set the agenda (thus the side trip to Denmark). I made some suggestions on what I would like to see, but I really don't have any must sees.

The plan is to fly in and out of Manila but otherwise spend no time there.

I didn't get to do much other than sing and wander around the Mall of Asia, but the visit to Corregidor Island was well worth it as well as the Veteran's Cemetary. They played Battle Hymn on the carilon at noon, and it was pretty cool. I don't know if they do it at other hours of the day, but it made the visit all the more memorable.

I have a brother in law that is British. I was skeptical at first, but after a couple of home cooked meals, I actually really like a traditional English breakfast.

The tempurature that time of year should be perfect for Korea. I never made it into Seoul and I imagine most of the tourist stuff is there. Anything with the DMZ would be cool. There are really cool Buddhist temples all over. The one place I was able to visit was Gyeongju which was the "original" capital of Korea. The big place to go there is Bulguksa Temple. We toured the grounds there. It was worth the trip. This was 30 years ago though so my memory is pretty fuzzy. We also took a bus ride up to some Buddha statue in the mountains close to there. I looked it up. It is Golgusa temple. I don't remember much about that, but I enjoyed the bus ride up. you could see out to the ocean so the mountains and the ocean were quite picturesque. But like I said, this was 30 years ago, so my memory of it isn't good and things may have changed since then.

Four of my five older sisters are planning a trip to the Philippines for this October to visit my other sister (who is currently on assignment with her husband in the Naga mission). After the Philippines, they are spending some time in South Korea. My older brother and I are considering joining them on the trip.

I got a notification yesterday of a decent deal flying back from Seoul using points. Anyone have suggestions for good deals getting to Manila (whether cash or points)?

Any suggestions for what to do while in the Philippines and/or South Korea?

I was in the british musuem years ago and was shooting the breeze with one of the museum staff and asked him what he thought was the most valuable thing in the museum. He said the magna carta.
I saw a copy, supposedly the best preserved, in the Salisbury Cathedral many years ago.

Right, it's not one of the originals. I forget how old it is, but it's a medival era copy.

We stayed at a B&B that served traditional English breakfast. Zero stars. Do not recommend.
Stayed at the Holiday Inn in Slough. Did not visit the office. Breakfast was awesome.

I like the eggs, toast, mushrooms, bacon, sausage and cooked tomato, but you can keep the beans and black pudding.

There really is so much to see that I would let your interests be your guide. If you would like more specific information on any particular topic, let me know. I'd be happy to talk on the phone or meet over lunch as well.

But in general, there is plenty of fantastic food in England. I had some of the best Thai food I have ever had last week in Reading.
