I've been to San Francisco a number of times and stayed in several different hotels, but I'd love to get a fresh perspective from the group here. I've been searching for places relatively close to Union Square, but I'd love to hear if there are any hotels in SF that you particularly love or have heard great things about.

You might like the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. It seems like it might be the type of thing you'd enjoy.
http://www.sirfrancisdrake.com/"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I stayed here in September of 2011. Great Hotel and across the street from the fairmont."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. It has become apparent that a man can, within limits, follow his inclinations within the arms of the Church if he does so discreetly." - The Walking Drum
