Not so dissimilar from the original state of Deseret, tbh.Last edited by Donuthole; 09-08-2020, 11:10 AM.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Restrictive policies on building, imposed primarily by the demands of current homeowners. There is obviously plenty of land on which to build. But if you increase the supply you (a) ruin someone's view out their window, (b) require additional resources to provide services to the increased population, (c) diminish the value of the houses already built, etc. It is a unique brand of NIMBYism that explicitly favors the haves and excludes the have-nots, with the divide widening year by year.Originally posted by falafel View PostWhy is the west so expensive, generally speaking?
I crunched the numbers not that long ago on our house (in Colorado). Based on what Zillow estimates our home value to be now versus when we bought, the amount of appreciation each month exceeds our entire mortgage payment-- principal, interest, and escrow for insurance and taxes. To buy a home in Colorado in the past decade is to have housing for, effectively, free.
Even as a direct beneficiary, I still find it infuriating.τὸν ἥλιον ἀνατέλλοντα πλείονες ἢ δυόμενον προσκυνοῦσιν

The Antipodes map. If you dug a hole straight down and through the Earth, where would you come out on the other side?

Just missed Madagascar!"...you pointy-headed autopsy nerd. Do you think it's possible for you to post without using words like "hilarious," "absurd," "canard," and "truther"? Your bare assertions do not make it so. Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."
