future of working from home

I've been working from home for years. Almost everyone I work with does the same. We spend a lot of time on conference calls, and occasionally we have to go to client sites (I haven't been to a client site in over 3 years), but mostly we just work from home. It's a great arrangement. I could never work in an office again."The mind is not a boomerang. If you throw it too far it will not come back." ~ Tom McGuane

99.9% of all I do could be done at home. I wish where I worked would allow that.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostI've been working from home for years. I could work from home several days a week if I wanted to. Others that I work with regularly work at home two days and sometimes three days a week.
My problem is that I find it hard to get enough work done when my wife is also home. She keeps finding reasons to interrupt me. Plus it's only two miles to work and I have better computers available to me there, so there are almost no advantages to staying home. I go home for lunch every day.

I travel for client meetings and site visits about 50% and the rest is from home. I hope I'm never in an office again.Originally posted by Non Sequitur View PostI've been working from home for years. When I first started with my company, I visited client sites exclusively. My last traveling gig, I commuted from Utah to Boston every week for a year and a half. In today's economy, clients aren't as willing to pay for travel. The bad economy has an upside.Originally posted by CJF View PostI travel for client meetings and site visits about 50% and the rest is from home. That's mostly what I've been doing the last couple days.Originally posted by PaloAltoCougar View PostHeck, as father of six, I did that all the time and I'm not even a physician."I think it was King Benjamin who said 'you sorry ass shitbags who have no skills that the market values also have an obligation to have the attitude that if one day you do in fact win the PowerBall Lottery that you will then impart of your substance to those without.'"
