Do you think you who look to get married right away or would you stay single for awhile? Also would marrying someone of the same faith matter as much the second time as it did the first time?

I'd most likely try to get married fairly quickly for the kids if for no other reason. Marrying someone of the same faith would be very, very, important, but I would say not as important as the first time. A good mom > same faith.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostDo you think you who look to get married right away or would you stay single for awhile? I think I would probably stay single for a while and try to find a really good nanny.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostDo you think you who look to get married right away or would you stay single for awhile? I would prefer to marry a Mormon but not a crazy Mormon, which eliminates about 90% of the Mormons I know. In fact, trying to find somebody who is as compatible with me on the religious stuff as my wife would be almost impossible. Maybe that's why I would likely stay single for while.

A friend of mine just got a bomb dropped on him this weekend. His wife was gone; including the furniture, the dog and a substantial savings. To see the pain that he is going through and from what I have seen others going through, I feel I would stay single for quite some time.
The only thing that would change my mind on that would be, as posted above, for the kids.I'm your huckleberry.

I am thinking the opposite.Originally posted by smokymountainrain View PostI'd most likely try to get married fairly quickly for the kids if for no other reason. I think it would take quite the perfect combination to find a girl that would take me and my 3 kids and also have the kids on board with it. I don't think my kids would take too easily to a "new" mom.
It is something I would approach very carefully.

It would depend on when it happened. Now, I doubt I would have much time to date and would be spending most of my time taking care of my kids and supporting the family. If it happened after the kids were grown, I think I would want to get remarried more quickly. I wouldn't mind marrying a nonmember if my kids were out of the house. My only concern would be that'd he'd think my garments were weird. That would make things awkward. What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

If I lost my wife and children I can't imagine recovering from the emotional trauma...esp since I would have likely contributed to it through some sort of bad behavior.
I don't know what I would do, but I have noticed that most of the LDS guys that I know that get divorced inevitably wind up going on a sex bender for awhile before getting active in the Church again. I guess they are either mad, think they will be fulfilled by sleeping with lots of women, curious, or a combination of all 3.
I like BYU71's sage advice......try your hardest to keep a strong marriage in good shape.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Buy season tickets to the Jazz, Bees, Cougar Football, baseball, volleyball. Who would have time for another wife? Oh, and start a message board.Originally posted by RC Vikings View PostDo you think you who look to get married right away or would you stay single for awhile? I would estimate that 75% (and I've been told that's conservative) of divorced LDS women go on sex benders as well.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIf I lost my wife and children I can't imagine recovering from the emotional trauma...esp since I would have likely contributed to it through some sort of bad behavior.

I found the world of the "active LDS woman" to be quite different than I imagined. 75% might be a high figure. I have mentioned this before, but I found once you let the gal know you accepted all the reponsibility and it was totally your fault, the ladies loosened up quite a bit.

Being a never-married in my thirties I mostly date divorced LDS women. Trust me, most of them have at some point, been sexually active post divorce. There are various reasons for this but I think the most are trying to compensate for the depression borught on by a failed marraige.Originally posted by byu71 View PostI found the world of the "active LDS woman" to be quite different than I imagined. 75% might be a high figure. Many of these women are very aggressive as well. I'm no Brad Pitt (I look more like Bill Goldberg) but more often than not the divorced LDS women I date will try to get something going that's a little south of french kissing.

I said the figure was less than 75% because I knew I hadn't dated all the divorced women and just figured I got lucky with ones I did date. Based on actual experience, I would say your figure is more accurate. I too am not Brad Pitt, probably more like Sean Connery.
