This is also the day that all the mean Mormons come out and make fun of all of us who don't have any pioneer ancestry.

I have to work today, no holiday at my office. I think I will get a haircut this morning, though.
      Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

When it comes to having pioneer ancestry, I'm a first class member!! Screw you FMCoug and your short Mormon family history! My ancestors are carrying you on their backs!

Not at all. This is completely fitting.

A few years ago when Pioneer Day was on a Sunday my mom was asked to give a Sacrament talk about her illustrious Pioneer heritage and their first journey to Utah. If memory serves correctly, this was her talk: Well... my new husband had to go back to Utah for school. So, we packed up everything we owned in our old Ford and started the long drive up from California. We stayed at a Motel 6 near Vegas that was infested with rats and cockroaches (not to mention inexplicable stains on all the sheets). The only food to eat along the way was an old package of jerky and stale gas station hot dogs. When I arrived I met some really weird people who would only talk about hunting. Testimony. end.

I can't believe the sacrifice she had to go through. I don't know if I could be so brave.

One of my kids had the same assignment in school. Write a story about the first members of your family to arrive in Utah, how they traveled, etc. She wrote about our motor home trip here when we moved 4 years ago.

My wife and I visited the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers museum last week and saw pictures and belongings of some of our ancestors. That was pretty cool. I'm not going to make fun of anybody.

I wanted to let you all know that I celebrated Pioneer Day today in fine fashion by having lunch at Crown Burger, an establishment with hard core Utah roots that makes some great burgers. No In-n-Out, Wendy's, Five Guys, etc. for me today. No sir. It was ALL UTAH today!

Thank God for those Greek pioneers!

I think their burgers are awful. The pastrami is terrible. I usually just get the gyro if I go there.

It is very fitting that FMCoug to go to Crown Burger on Pioneer Day. It helps him get a taste of some of the bad food the pioneers had to put up with. It is like Jews eating bitter herbs for the passover.

I always hit crown burger when I'm in town. Their bacon cheeseburger is great and they have decent fry sauce to boot!

I'm a fan. I like the pastrami though so I usually go with the Crown vs. the Bacon Cheeseburger. But those are good too.

My new client I go onsite to two days a week is in the Jordan Commons which is about a block from the one in Sandy on State street so I hit that up today.

Sadly The Mayan has closed so that is not a lunch option for me.

I prefer astro burger. Crown puts relish in the fry sauce so it has little pickle pieces. Ick.
