I can’t remember the thread where Bo professed his love for Rush, and me being a casual fan half-assedly backing him up. But I trust even Bo will find this funny:

That was cute--though the author is obviously suffering from performance anxiety.

          Seems pretty accurate.

              • Time to cancel Hertz, Thrifty, and Dollar. There are at least a few hundred fraudulent stolen car claims against renters, all who paid for their cars. And it's all Hertz's fault. Seems like it's just a poorly maintained database that refers some people to police and repo companies:

I accidentally got shown a couple of videos from "Lehto's Law" and can't stop watching them. The guy deals with all aspects of the law and people having to deal with it, including the case of Hertz claiming the renters stole their cars and not correcting it later on .

                      • This was a really interesting article:

From millionaires to Muslims, small subgroups of the population seem much larger to many Americans

                        https://today.yougov.com/topics/poli...ups-population

When it comes to estimating the size of demographic groups, Americans rarely get it right. In two recent YouGov polls, we asked respondents to guess the percentage (ranging from 0% to 100%) of American adults who are members of 43 different groups, including racial and religious groups, as well as other less frequently studied groups, such as pet owners and those who are left-handed.

When people’s average perceptions of group sizes are compared to actual population estimates, an intriguing pattern emerges: Amercians tend to vastly overestimate the size of minority groups.

                        ...

A parallel pattern emerges when we look at estimates of majority groups: People tend to underestimate rather than overestimate their size relative to their actual share of the adult population.

there’s some really interesting data in there. Interesting that minority groups tend to overstimate even their own percentages to a similar degree.

I think the only thing it proves is that in general, people are stupid.

                            • This article only strengthens the stereotypes I have of New Jersey. Mayor caught on tape uttering racial slurs will likely resign. Good thing! Police chief extorted mayor and town to the tune of over half a million dollars to keep the tapes secret. Bad thing!
