No need to read. Just go have a chat with a GenZ white man, especially one fresh out of college looking for work.

Oof. That's like 20-plus finger scrolls on my mouse. I'll give it a go later.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post
Giving this a bump for NWC and frank.
I don’t think this translates to all industries, but it’s definitely a problem in some.

I read about half the article then had to do something. Twenty minutes later I went back to read the rest and my company had blocked it.
Suspicious.

This Onion is great:
It keeps getting better.Well, well, well. What have we got here? Another city slicker who thinks he can waltz into my town and start causin’ all sorts of trouble. I’d be careful if I was you, fella. Because however they do things where you’re from, ’round here we have our own way of dealin’ with criminals, and that’s through a rehabilitation-centered restorative justice process.

Insane story of a 65 year old woman with 13 kids, 6 of them after she was 40 and well into her 50s, forged her husband's signature to get more children through IVF surrogacy. She was charged with felonies and the resulting 14-15th children placed in foster care. And their custody is still in limbo.

This is a very well written article about how the definition of medical futility of treating previously thought lethal conditions in babies changes as medicine improves. In this case, it is trisomy 18, which 25 years ago I was taught was almost uniformly fatal. It presents many valid viewpoints and does it in a very respectful way.

This is a cool article about a procedure that effectively kills part of the brain to let the rest of it live without seizures, performed on a baby with no other options. There's some brain-y videos that are always amazing to see.

Good read. I love the work those men are doing. I have someone close to me who was incarcerated for a time. I tried to spend time each week reaching out.

There's 2 'gene editing' treatments for sickle cell disease, one of them uses CRISPR technology. The patient in this article used a different technology.Originally posted by BigPiney View Post
Incredible. Are they using CRISPR?
Interestingly, neither one of these treatments fixes the DNA defect in sickle cell disease. Instead they ramp up production of different hemoglobin molecules that essentially overwhelm the defective gene's ability to make sickle blood cells.
