Azaleas!

Very beautiful. My magnolia trees are just blooming, my azaleas are budding and will bloom next week (I have the smaller varieties), the rhododendrons are not far off, and as for the peonies, I still need to dig some up from my neighbor's yard in the middle of the night and plant them in my backyard. I want peonies: bad.
It's all a little bittersweet, however, when one thinks of the red Japanese maple that passed last year. This year's for her; this year's for her.

Thanks wuap. I really miss SC this time of year. I tell everyone that they haven't seen flowers until they see the South in the springtime. And nothing smells better than a magnolia.sigpic

This has to be one of the biggest pear trees in the world.

Bumblebee in flight by my blueberry bush

The last camellia blossom of the year

Wild strawberries

Burford Holly berries

I'll post this same vantage point next week once they've opened. My fuchsia azaleas are my favorite.

If you look closely, you can see the wisteria all the way in the top of that pine.

The whites and pinks are starting to open

Wisteria saturation

Wisteria up close

Dogwoods

Confederate Jasmine growing around my mailbox. It has a wonderful smell

My redtips. These were spindly dead things when we moved here four years ago.

Tiny pink azaleas. These are the first ones to bloom, usually 3 weeks ahead of the large ones
