I saw this article that asked how much money would it take to give up the internet for a year. I think I'd need much more than 2500 they say that an American would need.

Does this include email? I could give up the internet for a period of time (Farewell, CUF!), but my practice would go into the tank if I had no email.

I'll give up my (direc)TV but don't touch my internet. My livelihood depends on it. I estimate I download/upload about 6GB in new builds and source a (work) day. Therefore, I have a redundant internet connections to my office.Last edited by Uncle Ted; 03-20-2012, 11:11 PM."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I would give up the internet and television for $5,000,000.00. I need the internet for my work and couldn't do it without having the internet available.
I would give up CUF for $50.00, though.

I would assume the question is in regard to internet for recreation and not work productivity. That being said, the number is still more than $6,000 for me."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV

I wouldn't give it up for $6,000, but when I see things like this I always wonder why it is even a consideration. What is the point?Get confident, stupid

At $700 a year, our internet more than pays for itself with productivity gains and savings that comes from finding the best prices and the best products, which in turn require less maintenance costs/replacements.

About giving up CUF - or the other part?Originally posted by Portland Ute View PostNice humble brag.
The point I was trying to make is that the only way I could give up the internet would be if I could retire comfortably immediately while doing it. A few thousand bucks doesn't come close to making it worth it.

Would you rather give up sex for a year or the internet? (And I recognize that for some those are not mutually exclusive things.)What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

A year without sex? I have an awful time making it three days...Originally posted by marsupial View PostWould you rather give up sex for a year or the internet? (And I recognize that for some those are not mutually exclusive things.)"Don't expect I'll see you 'till after the race"
