I know deposit time is coming up on Wednesday and I wanted to see if you would be joining the illustrious class. FWIW, I think you would make a fine addition and add a bit of diversity to the class, despite your (assumed) whiteness. Just thought I'd ask.

I figured you'd be a fan, wuapinmon. You obviously love NO and from what I hear, the book does just about the best job of really bringing to life the city.

And Babs, sorry to come on so strong. I'm trying to make the same decision right now and wanted to gague from a sample size of one what type of minds we could expect in the upcoming class.

As much as I like to think of myself as a budding Cougar, I'd say the odds are not looking so good for Provo.

Anyway, as Y has pointed out, I'd hate to take the spot of a deserving young man so nobly wanting to further his education to better provide for his family. I mean, think about it -- what good could come of me having the degree in the end? I might actually want to practice and then not only would I have stolen the young man's degree, I'll have taken some other guy's job, as well. Seriously, I don't know whatever got into me.

Are you saying the Y law school actually told you that you might not be accepted because you might take the spot of a man? Oh good. Don't tease me like that. I have issues with my alma matter as it is. I don't want anymore as I am about to write them another check. Reluctantly I might add. My brother calls me every other day to see if I sent it.

No, they seem more than a little excited about the prospect of a non-LDS woman of strong "moral character" who has already fulfilled her god-given responsibility of staying home with her young children, and is therefore in the free-and-clear to practice.

That said, they sent a bizarre thing about women in the law that totally creeps me out; and plus one of you said if I go there I have to start "dressing like a Mormon," and I'm not sure what that means but it makes me nervous.

That's too bad. I was really hoping to tap into some of your mad librarian skills in tackling the Hunter law library. Oh well, I guess everything I need to know is on Lexis anyway.

If you don't mind me asking, where else are you considering going? I know you mentioned something about moving to Seattle, are you looking at going to UW?

I would argue a strong case for the RJC school of law but I'm not sure I've actually sold myself on it yet. The tuition definitely does have an attraction though. Perhaps some of our current BYU law enrollees could expound on their likes/dislikes. TIA.

That would be interesting to define what "dressing like a mormon" would be. For instance, does walking around on the BYU campus represent mormons. How about visiting a swimming pool at say a Country Club in Utah, would that represent mormons. Maybe a trip to a movie theatre in Davis County, would that represent mormons?

Sometimes when folks say, "dresssing like, acting like, thinking like, etc. a mormon", I wonder if they are saying a standard that excludes me from the mormon community. I very much feel like a mormon and am proud to be one, well based on what I think a mormon is.

Anyway, I would love to see you pick BYU. I think you would find as I did many years ago the people there aren't as stuffy as projected.

'71, be assured that BYU Law faculty members, with one of whom I spoke yesterday as she basked on the sands of Kalapaki Beach (I guess the students are taking finals), would lay palm fronds on the path leading to the law school's front door in anticipation of Babs' arrival, were it thought to be imminent. So write your check. They may need more palm fronds.

I haven't decided what I'm doing. I have a spot at the top-ranked law library program in the country, and that's hard to turn down. I would come out as a pretty desirable candidate for library or research positions.
