I had all four of mine pulled without going under. They didn't even use enough novacaine on the last one do I felt it. Went and hiked Y mountain later that night with a group and met my wife.

It's not a big deal if your teeth are all in (mine were). I ate steak within two days.

I went to an oral surgeon and as put under to have my wisdom teeth pulled when I was 19. All 4 were compacted and I was told it took close to 3 hours for the surgery. Whatever you decide to do, all the best, Tim.

The best option is not have any wisdom teeth at all. That's the option that was presented to me when my jaw was x-rayed for braces back when I was a teenager.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

When I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed way back in 1989, they gave me three choices: 1) have things deadened like when you get a cavity filled, 2) something a bit stronger, but you're still awake for the procedure, or 3) have a general anesthetic. I chose number 2 because I was actually interested in the procedure.

My memory of what happened is sitting in the chair, having an intravenous solution going into my arm and breathing in some sort of oxygen and nitrous oxide mixture, being told to count to ten (or something similar), then being told that it was all done and I could get up out of the chair now. I totally missed the whole procedure and I was rather annoyed about that.

I also remember several months of having to deal with stuff getting stuck in those huge holes in the back of my mouth. Rice was the worst.

I'm glad that I had all four done at once.

I still have three of mine. About a decade ago (late thirties, maybe about 40 years old) I had all four and got a big cavity in one. Pulling it was cheaper than putting a big crown on it. I had three or maybe four Novocaine shots, the dentist used some sort of extraction device that looked like it might be a good alternative to water boarding, and I was done in less than an hour. Not that big of a deal to me. The worst part was the soreness in my jaw resulting from having it pried so far open for 20 minutes while he was extracting the thing.

IN hindsight I wish I had pulled all four, because they are a pain in the butt to maintain.
                PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I was put out when mine were removed but came out of it about halfway through.

I just remember seeing light, hearing crunching noises coming from the back of my mouth and feeling a hand on my forehead holding my head down while someone with what felt like pliers of some sort was pulling.

I remember hearing the dentist say something like "It looks like he's starting to wake up. Hit him him with some more of that..."

And the next thing you know I was waking up in recovering and on my way home.

I had mine out with local only - no problem, even with one impacted tooth.

Post op I developed a dry socket and had to get the Marathon Man treatment, otherwise an uneventful recovery.

I've had it both ways. Two of mine were done by my dentist (non-impacted) and two were done by an oral surgeon (impacted).

The two done by the dentist were incredibly easy. I didn't even plan on having them out that day. He just said "hey, want me to take out those two wisdom teeth?" It was super fast and I really didn't feel a thing. He said he just "rolled them out." No complications either.

The impacted ones were much more difficult to recover from. Stitches, bloody gauze, couldn't eat much for several days. Not a great experience.

I only had 3. I was put to sleep and my recovery was easy. That night I played in a basketball game. My mouth didn't swell much either.

Overall a pleasant experience. I went to Wisdom Teeth Only in Provo. I thought they did a nice job.

3 of 4 were impacted. I was not put under. It took a long time and the sounds were not awesome.

I was 14 when I got mine taken out, they put me all the way under. I was told that when I came to I accosted the nurse screaming "Merry Christmas!" at her. I have no memory of any pain.
