This happened quite often when the Viper first came out. People couldn't handle the dynamics. Dude should have taken a Bondurant or Skip Barber course, or rented a Corvette for a week or so to get used to feathering the throttle, etc. Sad. Repairing the oil pan and rear bumper might cost him $20k, so it may as well be totalled. Either way the tax bill is going to bury him.

I had a chance to drove a Diablo back around 2000(?). It was owned by my friend's client, who was 'computer money'. He told me not to crash it, but if I did, to total it because it would be too expensive to fix. Fun car, but it was a pain to drive around because it would scrape on every gutter when going through intersection, etc. Wicked fun up and down Parley's Canyon.

My boss's monstrous, 750 hp, supercharged hot rod, on the other hand, was terrifyingly fun to drive. It was just stupid fast, and barely controllable.
