Our trip to Rome is this weekend. Any specific restaurants you enjoyed?

Instead of going to Rome, which relatively few Americans ever have the opportunity to do, I think you should stay home and donate the money that the trip would have cost to a local food bank or maybe just send it to the US Treasury so they can spend it on social programs for you. You've benefited more than most from our capitalist system, and you owe it to society.

My Rome experience was the following:

1. Have a 24 hour layover to try to see some sights

2. Take hotel bus to downtown Rome

3. Torrential downpour begins as soon as the bus leaves

4. Taxis were not plentiful and when one would finally go by, it was either already busy or they wouldn't stop for some reason

5. Not dressed for a cold downpour, took refuge under the overhang at some old abandoned building with some heroin junkies passed out a few feet away.

6. Two hours later got back on the hotel bus.

7. Had to wait another two hours on the bus for others to return

8. Bus driver had a tape (8-track?) that had just 4 Beatles songs on it, which played on an endless loop, over and over and over and over and over and over and over

Last year we drove across the country. We switched on the driving ... every half mile ... We had one cassette tape to listen to on the entire trip ... I don't remember what it was.
