having amazing sex with the woman you love

Having your 4 year old tell your zoobie father in law "byu stinks like poo" and then sing the Utah fight song

Going to get an ultrasound and see the baby give you a little smile even if they do look like an aliens (btw.. Mrs MRD is having a girl in April)

Finishing a long run on summer morning and feeling good

Watching Utah beat byu in person

When you Finish reading a powerful novel

Watching you 15 month old cry when you have to leave for work and then see him and his sister in the window waving goodbye and blowing kisses

I'm glad to see Mindful here.

A flask of wine, a book of verse, and thou
beside me singing in the wilderness

        My wife & sons.

        Sashimi.

Watching the All Blacks play a test.

Watching my father interact with my sons; I never had the opportunity to know my grandfather.

        Memories of my mission.

The sound of primary children singing.

Just curious if this involves actually singing the words of the fight song or sort of humming along with a Go Utes? If your 4 year old sings the lyrics that's impressive. I swear the Ute fans I know don't know the words but they know how to clap along and yell Go Utes.

She knows all the words to the first two verses.

The BIL is still in SLC area, but Faith and I are trying to convince him and my Sis to move out to LA and open up a club here. If it works out, I will send him down your way so that you can have the pleasure of getting pummeled by him.

No thanks....I get my fair share of beatings from the locals, no need to have your BIL show me up. Where in LA are you?

I took the conversation to PM. No need to mess up this thread any more.

Lying in bed, I roll over...my wife is there asleep. I feel safe.

My son being alive today. Also, I come home from work, and I say "Hey, Goby Goby!" and he answers back, "Hey, daddy daddy!"

Going to the NICU every day for a couple of months. My little kids grab my massive pinkie in their microscopic fingers. I get an overwhelming feeling that everything will be ok.

Building a pillow fort with my kids. All of them are laughing and giggling. We go to the park and fly kites together. We make chalk drawings on the sidewalk. Then we come home and eat otter pops.

Family get togethers at my brother's house, with all the siblings, the grandkids, my grandmother, my mom......tons of food, everyone is laughing and being loud, visitors that are new to the family are overwhelmed, and we spend the day talking about politics, current events, sports, and life.

The ocean. The smell of surf wax. Paddling out into the water. It is early in the morning. I make it out to the lineup but don't join, I turn and face the shore, and I just sit on my board and look at something from a perspective that most never get to see....even though I am only 30 yards from shore, I am all alone and can think about what's important. I may only catch one or two the whole session. Who cares.

Good food. At an expensive restaurant. At a cheap, hole in the wall. At home from myr own stove or oven. From a street vendor. From a bakery. It doesn't matter, as long as it is good. Calories, fat, and carbs be damned. Also, good food gets cranked up an exponential notch when it is shared with good company. Breaking bread together is one of the most primal activities known to man. Food binds us all together.

Lakers basketball. Down years, up years, in person, on TV, on the radio. I don't really care, as long as it is purple and gold.

Going to the Ravine. Stopping beforehand at getting a french dip at Phillipes, standing on the sawdust with 300 of my closest Dodger friends. Driving up Elysian Park, passing the ticket scalpers. The car crests the ridge and I enter the massive parking lot and see Dodger Stadium again. The 76 station is off in the corner. THINK BLUE is on the hill. I buy 2 Dodger Dogs (grilled, if possible). I am a kid again.

Hearing the pulsating beat of Tribute to Troy. Putting up two fingers in a V. Hearing Conquest. Traveler runs around the Coliseum. Southern California spell-out. Bacon wrapped dogs afterwards.

Going skiing. It's 6AM....get up everyone! Let's go. First tracks. Going up the hill on the chair. Looking around. Cold, crisp air. Perfect Utah snow.

The ever-hopeful feeling of attending a BYU football game. We always have a shot. Gameday breakfast at Gandalfos...2 Harlems with steak sauce. Seeing the massive Wasatch Mountains as a backdrop to the stadium. Y on the mountain.

Traveling. Airports on vacation (as opposed to airports for business). Checking into my hotel. Walking around the city. Finding an old bookstore or a small local eatery. Exploring a museum at my own pace. Standing on ground that has been trodden by historical greats and artisitic masters...seeing what they saw and literally walking in their footsteps.

The fellowship of the Saints. Meeting good people in and out of the Church that are struggling along the path just as I am. Striving to be a better person.

48-24 gives me intense joy. Seriously.

Coming home and hearing my 22 month old in toddler say to my wife "Is it Papa?" and then come sprinting around the corner for loves, eskimo kisses followed by being tossed into a pile of pillows on the couch.

A dinner out with my wife. Taking a road trip with my wife and youngest daughter an hour to the south to a gas station to pick up, no kidding, the best sandwiches around. Going to the movies. Just being anywhere in public with my girl.

The Redskins. The Redskins. The Redskins.

Sitting in sacrament meeting with my family.

Spending a Saturday morning downloading new music then making a "new music mix." This ritual repeats about every three months.

My house at Christmas time when it is night time and it is softly lit by only the tree lights and candles in the windows.

Learning something new that makes me think and causes me to make new connections in my mind or reanalyze previous assumptions. I love being conscious of when growth is occurring.

Winning, under any circumstances, but especially when it is largely because of good lawyering. Having an objection/motion sustained. Listening to a ruling, or reading one, that is peppered with the phrase "as UtahDan points out." Defeat stings so the victories must be savored.

Overhearing my wife pay me a compliment she doesn't know I am within earshot.

Reading about what gives good people on this board joy.

A good, pure spiritual testimony -- borne by others, that I "get"

                                48-24, 52-21, 34-31, 34-31, and all the rest.

A belly laugh with my wife.

                                A great workout.

                                A great Charles Dickens novel.

Watching a football or basketball game with my sons. Especially a Ute game.

Seeing my 11 year-old daughter love a baby.

Being greeted by my dogs when I come home. ("I wish I were half the person my dog thinks I am.")

                                A good sentence.

Having more time so I could write more here.
