    I'm Shakey.

When I first signed up for CB, I was asked to supply a pseudonym. I didn't really give it much thought, because, hey, I was only going to make that one post. 15,796 posts later, I am tasked with coming up with a handle for this forum. And Shakey it is. It is a logical name, as I'll get to in a minute, and much cooler than my CB name. At least I think so.

In a previous life, I went by Bernard. Bernard Shakey is Neil Young's pseudonym when he directs movies. And I'm a huge Neil Young fan. I debated keeping Bernard, but I want to distance myself somewhat. That said, I chose Shakey because I like the name, it is Bernard's last name, and I'm not going to hide Bernard from you. So if you hate Bernard, give Shakey a chance; he is much more lovable. Seriously.

I've been largely AWOL from any forum, CB included, since the week of the TCU football game--for a lot of reasons. So, now that I'm out, so to speak, go ahead and kick me.

Games, win or lose, are much more enjoyable away from forums. Why jump back in? Good question.

    Here's my deal:
Married. Three kids. One just graduated from culinary school in Boston. I'm glad to no longer be paying an obscene amount of money to look at pics of food on her blog that I don't get to eat. My second is going on his mission (stateside, Spanish speaking) in six weeks. My youngest is in ninth grade.

I like cooking, music, reading, and camping. My favorite music includes Neil Young, Jackson Browne, Steely Dan, Killers, and Shawn Colvin. My favorite albums of all time are Young's Tonight's the Night (hence my pic) and Dan's Katy Lied (good name for the poster of the same name here). I'm also a huge John Steinbeck fan and was negotiating with his widow to do a followup to Travels with Charley. If you haven't read it, give it a try.

    Questions and/or concerns?

It looks like a fun place and many of my friends in real life post here. And some of my enemies.

Also, you all suck and are losers. It wouldn't be the same without saying that.

Well I, for one, am willing to let bygones be bygones, bury the hatchet, forgive and forget, usw. Welcome aboard. And I understand the name change. The Bernard brand is perhaps the most famous on CB, but it was tragically co-opted and you've essentially lost control of it--it became like Xerox or Kleenex, used by the masses to describe a general process or thing, rather than a specific product.

      You'll like it here.

        Hola Shakey,

I'm the easily-offended rankings-obsessed talks-about-sex-too-much swearing Southern convert bow-to-my-PhD new guy. I also find myself extremely interesting and have an over-inflated sense of my own worth, intelligence, and affability. If I've forgotten anything, PLD or YOhio will supply the rest.

I bid you welcome. Soy un perdedor.

Now all we need is a successful recruitment of BYU71 and CUF will be complete.

Jello would be a more fitting example.

Welcome. I always felt like I should know you better on CB being that we both posted as much as we did. I am glad that you are here and I have a chance to get to know you better.

Neil Young? You mean it has nothing to do with this?

No, but I did take my first date to that place before a concert at the old Salt Palace in SLC.

You should have seen me: authentic Earth shoes, gayish jeans, and a blue nylon shirt with the moon rising over a mountain scene on the back. And Shakey's. Needless to say, I did not get lucky that night.

I loved Shakey's Pizza. They used to show cartoons via a movie projector when I was a kid in the '70's. That pretty much put it over the top for me.
