    Anyone have a

drink and wet doll that they no longer are in need of. We ear gearing up for the "big day" with our little one and can't afford one. (it's like 50 or 60 bucks for some of these dolls!!!) Anyway, let us know if you do.

    Potty training sucks.

We just spread newspapers all over the house and have our kid run around naked. We clean up as we go. Eventually, we're counting on peer pressure to do the job.

Sat. morning, put the potty in the tub.....take all their clothes off.....feed them as much sprite and pretzels as they want....they'll have to pee a bunch.....they'll get it.

        This doesn't work for everyone.

This is actually the method we want to use, but it does state you need some kind of doll that has the ability to "pee" so we need to find a cheap one fast. Did you use this method with yours, how did you like it?

My only advice is to not ask for advice or tell anybody your potty training your girl. You'll get tons of strong opinions from everyone and they likely won't work.

              That's probably great advice.

One thing I've noticed about raising kids is the authoritative tone people get when dispensing advice. Their is always this mysterious "they" who seem to say a lot of important things about parenting. "They" say this and "they" say that. If "they" aren't saying something, it's "studies" that show. Taking a kid out in public is like posting a target on your back that says, "tell me what I'm doing wrong."

We just used a doll and a sponge behind it.

Just take the little foot and scratch it in the sand. It works like magic. The next thing that you know, they just keep coming back to go potty in the box.

Here is what we did: nothing. We would simply ask them if they wanted to try the normal toilet. At first, the answer was always no. Eventually, one of them said yes. Then another. Then another.

No stress, no worrying what you are doing wrong, no pressure on the kids, no major hassles because you are already used to changing diapers, anyway.

I never quite understood the thought of wasting an entire day or week trying to train your kid to sit on a toilet. Eventually they will sit on the toilet. Save your week and go outside and have fun.

That is exactly what we did, with pretty good success.

I never read a book about it. I just put them really cool underwear/panties, took them to the bathroom every hour and made a big deal when they went (usually giving them a sticker or a piece of candy). I don't otherwise change my schedule. I still run errands and do anything else I need to do. Oh, and I pack an extra change of clothes with me just in case. You will likely have to clean up pee and maybe poop a couple of times and do a little extra laundry but it's otherwise no big deal. Good luck!
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.
