Turn down service

So I am on the road this week and got a knock on the door of my hotel room last night and the maid asked me if I wanted "turn down service". I thought about it for a second but declined. Even though no one would have known, I couldn't live with myself knowing that I had someone come in and pull the covers down on my bed for me. I mean, just how lazy does one have to be to have another human being perform a service this trivial? What's next? Turn-on-the-TV service?

Am I missing something? Is there some hidden part of this service of which I am unaware?

not really related to turn-down service, but whenever I am in a hotel, i have a tradition of going back to the hotel at night, eating a bag of Sour Patch Kids while watching TV in bed and the AC is cranking.

my other tradition is wiping down the TV remote with anti bacterial wipes.
