I swear I am not playing golf unless the temp. is around 60 or higher. Playing in this crap has made all my muscles ache.
Supposedly they are still "maintained" so they could be fired up again. The GSL is so low right now, I think we would need a few more years like this to be able to use them

I may be small, but I'm slow.

It would be nice to flood the west desert a few times to build up the salt crust again. The Salt Flats are being destroyed by the lack of flooding.

I heard that a couple years ago they started a program of pumping in order to build up the salt flats again. Not sure if it is true, or if true, if the pumps on Hogup ridge are used or if they are different pumps.

To replicate 1983 we need lots of rain/snow and cold temps for another month, followed by a rapid warming, which would overload the system. That would suck. I don't think I can take another month of this slightly milder version of winter we're currently experiencing.

It is not the same pumps. The program stared in 1997 and only ran for about 5 years. They are trying to get the BLM to make it a permanent thing. You can learn about it at Savethesalt.org. My father races a model T roadster out at the Salt Flats each year.

Meanwhile Texas is burning. We used to go boating at Possum Kingdom Lake. Beautiful area.

It's been really dry here this spring. Not as many thunderstorms as usual. I guess we did miss out on all the tornadoes.

I was at my son's soccer game this evening. At around 7:30 the game was called off because it was so cold and windy, the temp dipped into the high 30s. Many of the kids were sitting in their parents laps or in the car with their parents. Lovely springtime weather here.
                    Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
