Our kids have a week off in October and I'm drawing a blank on vacation ideas. They're 4, 6, and 9. We're thinking of doing something in SoCal--maybe Lego World, SeaWorld, etc with a few days on the beach. But I thought I'd open it up to the board and see if anyone has done a cool vacation with kids these ages.

I have 8, 5, and 3. They love Legoland, Sea World was kind of a dud, Discovery Science Center (the big cube on I5 just south of Disney) was a hit last time we were there.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostOur kids have a week off in October and I'm drawing a blank on vacation ideas. Just be careful and look ahead. Legoland is often closed midweek during the off season.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI have 8, 5, and 3. Make it a Mississippi vacation. We'll show you a real good time. What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

No, we went to Disneyland last October and loved it. We didn't do Legoland, which is why we wanted to try it this year. BUT, SoCal has been our standby (only 6 hours away, so it's tough to turn down), so I kind of wanted to try something different.Originally posted by beefytee View PostDon't like Disneyland, Eh?

Our kids love Sea World, so even though I think it's overpriced, we kind of have to do that one. Thanks for the Discovery idea--I think they'd dig that.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostI have 8, 5, and 3. Ha...we just finished renovating a duplex to rent out, and our kids are more than a little sick of "we're working down the house today". The smell of linoleum glue would cause a mutiny.Originally posted by The_Tick View PostFeel free to stop by.
I should have most of the painting done by then, but I could use your kids to help me get some of the linolium and glue up off of the ground.
I've always wanted to try one of these places. It is a little spendy, but I think it'd be a sweet vacation. I wonder if there are any off-brand alternatives (that aren't advertised every day on Disney Channel) that are cheaper.Originally posted by Coach McGuirk View PostIf you want to get a little spendy, we always have a great time at Atlantis.

On a totally unrelated note--I just heard a report that said Mississippi had the lowest breastfeeding rate in the country. Utah had the highest.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah
