How did you get a higher score than me (8501 vs 8202) on the Irish one when we both picked 4 years off and my guess was 0.4km closer?

On a different note, I too noticed the Volvo by their very distinct headrests they had back in the day. That's one of the reasons I was thinking Scandanavia for so long. Also, the word that started Fj, like Fjord.

Maybe I entered in the distance wrong. I think I selected near the Stockholm airport since I saw what looked like a Pan-Am sign.

Total of 35,843. Had a couple pretty good ones and a really bad one.

9948 - 1 year, 85.7 m - Thought it was Diana, but wasn't sure. Her expression made me think it might be a funeral procession or something, but her light colored blouse and the smiles on the people in the crowd convinced me otherwise. Was about to guess London until I noticed the Opera House in the background.

8501 - 4 years, 598.6 km - I saw the writing at the bottom but don't know Ireland well enough to connect it. I went with London a few years too late.

6740 - 1 year, 2128.7 km - Went with Stockholm since there seemed to be a lot of Volvos. That's where they make Volvos, right?

1012 - 19 years, 9290.6 km - Didn't notice the pricing in euros. Considered the Basque region of Spain, but the signage seemed to have English as the primary language, so I ruled out Spain entirely. Went with a small town near Bakersfield. And way off on the year, too, as usual.

9942 - 1 year, 405.6 m - Saw New Zealand on one of the signs and Kiwi on another, defaulted to Auckland. Tried to make out the date on one of the publications, but no dice. Based the year on the hair styles on the magazine covers and the authors displayed.

4) 8593 - 3 yrs - 506.7 km. I was going to guess either Madrid or Barcelona. Went with Barcelona because I figured it's close to Basque country (I think?) and there are a lot of Basque sheepherders (I think?).

5) 8956 - 1 yr - 493.9 km. I guessed Wellington because the business said Welly's or something like that.

I'm pretty sure PAC talked about where this scene was filmed once, after one of his trips over there, but I couldn't remember where.

Having served in Salzburg and after a few visits later, I know pretty much every filming location in the Sound of Music. I thought the picture was taken in the Catskills as that's closer to Broadway, but was a bit off.

Fun facts: in the "hills" where Maria and the kids are singing and dancing, one can see Werfen Castle, the fortress used in the classic WWII movie, Where Eagles Dare. After she sings the opening song, hears the church bells, and runs back and into the Abbey, she has covered 30 miles or so--very impressive. And the family hike to safety at the end is on a trail that will take them to Hitler's Eagles Nest.

There was also an '84 Chevy Cavalier across the street (or similar GM make). Not sure why I went back to 1980 on my guess.

I don't know much about cars, but I know 80s Oldmobiles.

Yeah, the cars were a curveball. Most of them were 70s models. But, if you zoomed in, there was a mid 80s Olds Cutlass right above the mailbox. My dad and grandpa were both Olds guys, so I know those taillights well.



I was a couple years off, but the e-scooter in the far right of the picture was the timeline key here. Pretty low res photo for 2023 though. I guessed 2021.
