I’ve been playing Beach Boys songs the last few days. It reminds me of listening to the oldies radio station with my parents when I was a child.

I think most people associate the Beach Boys with the early surfing and cars era. Which has its place, but isn't something I really listen to often (much like pre Rubber Soul Beatles). That stuff litters the greatest hits compilations. The deep cuts of the mid to late 60s is the sweet spot. Pet Sounds is a truly great album from start to finish. The subject matter is deeper. Smiley Smile and Sunflower are great albums as well.

Growing up in the 80's I was a huge fan of hard rock ballads, and 'Momma I'm Coming Home' has a place in my favorites playlists. However, for my money the best Ozzy ballad is 'Changes' while he was with Black Sabbath.
