How anyone could think of buying a Japanese truck baffles me. I can see a car but a truck? Geez Trucks are what Americans do best.

The current Toyota Tundra is assembled in good ole San Antonio, Texas. Also, Toyota builds engines for NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. This is pretty damm American if you ask me.

I have own a 2000 Tundra since Toyota came out with this model. It is a great truck if you ask me. I have never taken it in the shop for anything major. On the other hand, we own a 2007 GMC Yukon. We have had a lot of problems with this vehicle. In fact, it is in the shop right now because it used four quarts of oil on our last road trip. Fortunately when we bought this car I opted for the extended warranty. It is a good thing because they are now putting a new engine (actually short block) in it. We've had our Yukon in the shop so many times I am convinced that GMC stands for General Mess of Crap and will never consider buying a GMC/Chevy anything again. On top of that GMC's service is pure hell. I told them it was using oil a year ago. They replaced PCP value and a value cover (that wasn't leaking oil). After the fifth time of taking it to them they finally did a compression check and noticed it wasn't to spec. (WTF!) Before that we had problems with the battery discharging, seat belts not retracking, etc. I personally hope that GMC goes bankrupt and burns in hell for the crap they have put me through. Not to mention the whole bailout of GMC just pisses me off.

I might consider a Ford but if I was going to buy a new truck to replace my 10 year Tundra it would most likely be another Toyota. I think the new Tundras are a little on the biggie size, however. Of course, this might be a while. My 2000 Tundra is going strong and has survive three kids driving it.

Well, I pulled the trigger and bought one tonight. It will arrive at the dealership tomorrow (they have me in a Scion xB for the evening).

I am still agape at how the dealership went. I went in loaded for bear, and I'd done all of my research. I handed over my price quotes from the interwebs and other price quotes I had, and there was no haggling, no nothing. They honored the price, got me exactly the truck I wanted, and didn't try to give me any mumbo jumbo. They tried to sell me extended warranties and such, of course, but they didn't try to press the issue when I said no. Way different from all of the car buying experiences I've had.

Buying a car at a Toyota dealership was the best experience I have had buying a car. The Pilot was the second easiest experience.

I don't even want to talk about the Hyundai.

Yup. 2010 Tundra 4x4 with the Off Road package and 5.7L engine. I was absolutely astounded at how quiet the cab was - I had it up around 75 with no cabin noise at all.

Yessir. That spray-in liner was a big deal. Color is red (my first red car, btw).

I had a major fight with the Honda finance people when we bought our van. They tried to get us to get all the bells and whistles and extended warranties, and when I busted out my economic chops on them, they tried to appeal to the "this is how we make our money" argument. That was a non-starter and I about told the manager chick to get bent.

If the new ones are anything like my 2000 you will enjoy this truck for a long time. My wife had a mercedes benz at the time. I swear that the cabin noise in the Tundra was less.

Didn't you just buy a Nissan Titan.

Yes. I had to play with a budget and the Titan was the best with the funds I had available. If budget weren't a consideration I buy the Tundra. Tundras really hold their value and I couldn't get one with within the parameters I had set for my purchase.

My Titan has been fantastic. Pulled an 8000lb trailer up Parley's last weekend doing 70.

I'm about to leave Solon as the last remaining guy in Cedar not driving a truck. Funny, I had decided on a Tundra based on CR reviews, where it pretty much blows everyone else out of the water--it really isn't close--and I decided to check here and there's a whole thread. So a few questions:

-We have a pop up trailer we pull now. I'm obviously not worried about that, but I may upgrade to a bigger trailer (probably 22') in the next few years. Can I pull it with this?
-I think the Crewmax has a smaller bed, which is about 6" too small to get a bigger tax deduction, so I'd rather go with the smaller cab. Will it be big enough to haul around a few kids? Adults?
-What kind of mileage are you getting?
