I home taught a 92 year old sister, who lived in a really nice double wide, in a really nice park. The space rent was $300/month. She couldn't sell the place for $7,000. I can't help but imagine what I could do with the $500,000 I could save by living there. Living in that place in that park would not alter the enjoyment of my life one bit.

That commercial is awesome.

Right out of school, I worked for a very large bank. My division financed mobile homes. It was an interesting business. I used to travel around visiting mobile home dealers sometimes. They are an interesting bunch. I was a recent BYU graduate, just a few years off a mission, working for a company that gave me some very intense sexual harrassment training. There were times when I was visiting dealers that I thought I should run out of the place with my hands over my ears and eyes closed.

The mobile home trade shows were fun too; you would see some interesting girls standing in swim suits pointing at cheap homes. I was also in the music business for a while, working for a piano and guitar manufacturer. I used to go to music tradeshows, and this guy I worked with used to talk about how you could tell the quality of music companies by who they hired to stand around holding a guitar in a bikini. The high class companies hired strippers, the down-on-their-luck companies hired hookers. I saw girls at the mobile home show far skankier than anything I ever saw at the music shows.

I kind of miss those jobs.

I saw the SLCC haircut one too, and was laughing out loud. It did bring to memory one of the great unknown treasures of Provo- Bon Losee Academy. Not for the crappy, cheap haircuts but it is a goldmine when you need to find a cute date. Many of the girls their want to be part of the BYU college scene but are just far enough outside of it they aren't as involved or get asked out as much as Y coeds. Most are cute and outgoing. If you are single in Provo, have a halfway decent personality, and no dandruff that is a good place to go look for a date on a Friday afternoon.

I was all over Bon Losee academy for awhile. I think the haircuts cost $5 back in the day. The academy used to have this deal that after X amount of referrals you received free haircuts, so not only was I paying $5 a chop, but every few months I would get one for free.

I didn't have as much luck with the chicas there as you apparently did. A very nice gay guy invited me to go up to SLC to a place called "The Sun," though. I think it was a gay bar. I politely refused but he still did a nice job cutting my hair.

One thing that is reaffirmed in my mind from watching that haircut commercial: Utah has gorgeous women.

I only had 3 or 4 dates from there, but a good friend probably scored (often literally, fortunately or unfortunately, depending on you perspective) dozens from there. The one challenge was always who you asked to cut your hair. The newer girls were always much more willing to go on a date with a relative stranger, yet it substantially increased the odds of having a Lloyd Christmas-like haircut, whereas the older girls gave much better cuts but weren't usually interested in whatever game I was trying to run.

I had forgotten about the free haircut deal, it always felt like winning a mini lottery when that rolled around.

I used to have a pied a terre in Montecito but got tired of the weekly commute to Los Angeles, so I looked at buying a very small mobile home at the park in Santa Barbara. It came with a very old very small mobile home, about $500 slip rent, and the right to live in that park in perpetuity (so long I paid the rent). Price: $600,000.

This was back in the day when homes in Santa Barbara appreciated $10K every month.
