I never had allergies until I was in my thirties (other than penicillin---nasty nasty reaction to that; hives that grow white filaments!).

As a kid I was more highly allergic to cats than I am now. On the other hand, I didn't start getting seasonal allergies until I was an adult. I'm pretty miserable for a month or so every spring though I don't know what pollens I am allergic to.Originally posted by Drunk Tank View Post

I'm crazy allergic to our mutual feline friends. Some of our best friends have two very furry cats that freely roam, so when I go over I have an antihistamine mélange I must take and an albuterol inhaler for when my lungs threaten to collapse. I sound like Billie Holiday around cats.

Add me to the list of those who are allergic to cats. Also add me to the list of those who dislike cats regardless of allergies.
Walnuts will choke me to death unless I can get some water to dilute it.
Seasonal allergies that popped up once I started going to the B.Y.
Bananas also seem to cause a very minor yet noticeable reaction, but not enough to stop me from eating them whenever I want.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I have had terrible seasonal allergies most of my life. Where we currently live, my allergies are fairly well-controlled with a daily Claritin during spring and early summer. If I am mowing the lawn, I just pop a second pill and i'm usually pretty good.
The worst places for my outdoor allergies have been Fresno (where my parents currently live) and Utah. This weekend when we down in Fresno was awful. Asthma, uncontrollable sneezing, watering and itchy eyes... you name it.
Also on my allergy list: cats, horses, hamsters (or any other small rodent), dust, walnuts and bananas. I like bananas, but every time I have even a bite I can feel my throat start to itch and then constrict. Oh, banana cream pie, how I miss thee.Comment

I have some seasonal, spring, allergies since I turned 30. Mainly it is itchy, swollen, red eyes. It only lasts 2 or 3 weeks so I just mainly suffer through it.
I may be small, but I'm slow.

Any of the local 'Tah seasonal allergists having a tough time lately? I don't know if it is the warmer weather or what but it has been brutal the past couple of weeks or so. I usually love to sleep with windows open to get that cool night air in the room, but I have stopped doing that because by 3am I can't breathe. Closing the windows really helped at night but last night we ran our AC and allergies seemed to pop up again.
I checked online and the pollen counts for certain weeds are sky high right now and estimated to stay such through October, if not later. I assume it all goes away once the weather turns cold? Or is it the rain?
Has anyone tried out those allergy shots that last for the season? Do they work? I'm ready to try one.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
