    Xbox 360 System error 73

My son informed me that the 360 is showing this. I tried to see if I could find out about it online and learned that it's an eternet problem. There is one red light.

    2 questions about this:

    1. Will I have to send this in to get it repaired?

    2. Why the <redacted> does this affect game play when we don't even have an xbox live account nor do I ever plan on ever needing access to xbox live?

We just use the system to play games in the house. I actually threw away the cable because I have no use for it.

Fortunately for you it is a Microsoft product and therefore by definition has plethora of problems with it that have been experienced by literally tens of millions of people. So, finding info online regarding the problem shouldn't be difficult.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

My limited search online suggests that you'll have to send it in to Microsoft. It looks like its a problem not with the actual Ethernet port, but with the motherboard's ability to recognize the port. In other words, your motherboard can't see the port correctly.

That's what I got out of it from my search as well.

I'm just ticked about it. I wonder if it would freak out the xbox if I removed the ethernet card?

i'm not sure if the guts of a 360 are modular so as to allow that

I'm not sure if it would freak out or not, but I don't think it would solve your problems.

Oh yeah? That sounds like a challenge.

Probably not, but dammit, I didn't buy the xbox so it wouldn't work. Of course, I'd heard so many problems about it before I bought it that I should have heeded others' warnings.

How old is it? less than a year (I seem to remember you got it recently). If so, what's the problem with sending it in to MS? If its under warranty, its no cost to you.

                    The warranty expired last month.

I already sent it in once after we'd had it for a few months because it wouldn't read any of the games in the drive. That irritated me as well.

I just got off the phone with customer service and Microsoft wants $50 just to look at it. I'm not happy about it, but I guess I'm just going to have to send it in, unless I can find someone around here who knows how to take care of it.

I'm mostly irritated because I want to play GTA4 right now!

I wouldn't send it to MS for that price, especially since you know they're going to charge you more to fix it.

Look on craiglist and KSL classifieds. There are lots of people on there that advertise their xbox repair services, and usually cheaper than $50 I think.

Thanks for that tip. I'll do that.

Next time you're up this way, I'd buy you a shake from Big B's, but it's no longer in business.

Sad times. Many a post-scouts shake was had at Big B's.
