Aother question, although my last one about multi tasking went unaswered
When I open my browser and head to CUF, I receive a pop up notifying me of mail. I click ok, and I get a second pop up asking if I want to open it in a separate window. Regardless of what I choose, the end result after a series of 3 pop ups is that no separate window opens and I have to manually go check my PMs anyway. Does this happen to everyone else, fellow iPad users? Is there a fix?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Hit yes then no. Otherwise you need to change the popup blocker settings for CUF.

Multitasking on the iphone/ipad isn't really full multitasking like on a laptop. The reason for this the limited resources (mainly memory) and the lack of "paging". In general, background apps (by default) are paused. There are some exceptions like audio apps (e.g. pandora playing in the background), VoIP apps (e.g. receiving calls in skype), task completion (e.g. finish downloading file or web page), etc. Applications do need to be (re-)coded to take advantage of these background services.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostFor those that are more skilled at the basic tech stuff...
Multitasking...are all apps multitasking friendly? Some apps seem to be fine if I double click on the home button and come back later. Other apps will go back to default if i double click out and come back later. Also, if I exit an app via multitasking, do I have to go back in via multitasking in order to save the suspend? Or can I go back in from the home screen?
I am not sure if I understand your question but there are really two things you need to know about using multitasking:
(1) To put app in the background double-tap the home button and then select another app to run.
(2) To kill an app in the background double-tap the home button to bring up the background app bar. Press and hold the icon of the app you want to kill until the icons start to wiggle. Then press the red delete badge at the top of the app icon. Note this is very similar to how up delete apps so make sure you are doing this in the popup background bar and not on the springboard."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Clicking on the home button and the power button at the same time gives you a screenshot. The shot is saved in your photo app.
While browsing, you can touch the top of the browser screen...any part of the silver frame...and it will scroll all the way to the top of the web page. Very cool shortcut. Love it, esp for CUF.
Any other tips and trix that you all use?

You may want to try another of the now many browsers that are available in the app store to see if they have the same problem.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostAother question, although my last one about multi tasking went unaswered

I don't seem to have that problem but I don't get that many PMs."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

I have been using skyfire more often. It plays flash video and has some nice facebook and twitter intregation features but cost $5 (worth it for playing flash). Also, it seems a bit faster than mobile safari.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThanks uncle Ted. Great info.
What browser do you use? Do other browsers have more robust drop down menus or is that minimalist offering an iPad standard?"If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.

Is that for the iPad? I thought I read that the flash component for sky fire didn't really work very well at all. Is that accurate? $5 seems like a safe gamble on that front.Originally posted by Uncle Ted View PostI have been using skyfire more often. I haven't noticed any appreciable lag using safari but i will defer to your tech savvy.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

The way it plays flash is kind of a hack. In short it relies on some servers on the net to convert the flash video to a format that can be played on the iPad. It is better than what mobile safari provides.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostIs that for the iPad? Sky fire does have some bugs. For example, I don't think the java support is all there. Some things it does it seems faster than mobile safari. Other things it is not so fast.
I use it mainly for facebook and twitter because it makes it easy to view embedded links. I still use safari for things like CUF."If there is one thing I am, it's always right." -Ted Nugent.
