I think she is referring to IndyCoug. He seems to have some sort of basic legal training.

I am in harmony with Babes. Two spaces is for the birds.

I know. But this serves as an interesting counterpoint to the attorney(s) who were insisting to me that well sure maybe the whole rest of the world has switched to monospacing, but by golly in the legal world it's still two!! really it is!!

If I care to get it right I use spell checker liberally and I review before finalizing. Here, not so much.

I've always been a two spacer. I think it started in HS when I didn't have enough material for the requisite two page written homework assignment.

I am unaware of any legqal prescription in applicable rules that specify number of spaces follwing a period. They specify a bunch of other things (margins, font size, etc.) but not that. Not to say it isnt true somewhere, but I am unaaware of it. Instead, think of it this way: Lawyers as a group read a lot of stuff everyday. All day. Except for some youngsters who are wrong, most prefer two spaces. I think there is a practical reason for it, as I explained earlier.

Ohh, okay. That makes more sense. Here I thought it was just because they were old and stodgy and phobically resistant to change.

well what practical reason is hter for not having two spaces? page length? ha. Try a long document wiht and without and see if it makes a difference, none or almost none. time? yes, that extra tap on the space bar really takes it out of your day. Keyboard wear and tear? Not bloody likely. So why do it? what advanatage is ther to one spacing?
