Potentially. I haven't been watching too closely, but yes, my battery has been lower today than I would have thought. Although I've felt my battery gauge was off. I would show 75% plus for a long while, 20% to 74% would last about the same amount of time, and below 20% would drop quickly. I'd much rather have a more accurate representation of where I'm at, so if the new iOS helps fix that... 👍

Nothing yet for me. Still close to 100%.

No issue for me, although I did have this issue with one of the other upgrades but it went away when i reinstalled the update.

The one issue I have with Apple is that I want a way for MJ and I to have separate Apple ID accounts, yet still be able to access the same apps. Currently we share the same Apple ID but different iCloud accounts, which allows us to share apps, songs, music, and the like but it tends to mess up things like messaging. For instance, today we both updated to iOS7 and now I'm getting texts from her twice, once under my name and once under her name. I know I can fix this through some work around, but honestly I'd prefer to just have the ability to share stuff as a family without sharing the same Apple ID. Then I could better us stuff like messaging, Find my Friends, Facetime, etc.

I'm definitely an Apple fanboy though. I'll be ordering my iPhone 5S tomorrow morning. It's funny, but the thing that steers me away from Android is the flexibility and customization. I just want a phone that works and does what I want it to do without the hassle of having to customize everything. Everytime I see an Android phone it looks cluttered and ugly, at least the main screens are that way. And I don't want a bigger screen. It's a phone. If I'm going to watch a movie or play a game for longer than 5 minutes I pull out the iPad.

Also, MJ gets frustrated with products that aren't as simple as Apple products. The greatest day of my life was when we got an iMac to replace the Windows based machine we had before. I no longer get calls asking how to do certain things because OS is really that simple and the hardward/software have worked seamlessly for the past 5 years. She can make movies, rip DVDs, upload photos, print documents, etc. and it all works. The only time she still calls me is when she is doing something on the Dell laptop because the program won't run on the iMac.

I haven't looked at an iphone forever so I honestly don't know. This lack of widgets is a long running thing and obviously intentional. I wonder what the rationale is. It's one of the most useful and user-friendly things on my phone, the type of thing that Apple would typically be pretty interested in.
What widgets do you like to use? From my android days, the ones I used the most were:

            music player
            text messaging
            google voice search
toggling airport mode, wifi, gps, etc.
            weather

Most of this is supported in one way or another with iOS. Notification center handles things like text messaging, tapatalk notifications, FB updates, etc. There has been an option for quite a while to get quick access to music and camera from the lock screen. Siri kind of handles voice search, but it is not as good as google voice search (I have to bring up an app for that). Toggling wifi, gps, etc has never been a problem because iOS handles those things well enough that they don't drain my battery. The new control center has an airport mode toggle (not a big deal either way - only an issue when flying). Kind of miss the weather widget, but now I just look out the window.

Never bothered me at all not to have widgets. But if you like them, stick with android.

I've noticed it. This often seems to be an issue whenever Apple rolls out a new iOS. I'm a big fan of the GUI, though. I haven't poked around under the hood.

              • my annoyance with apple is having to sync with itunes and all the corresponding catastrophic warning messages that pop up every time I plug in the phone..."this will delete everything in your library...."

I dislike the limitations on syncing with various computers and authorizing/deauthorizing.

                Annoying.

I mostly use a weather widget and a calendar widget that shows on my opening screen my next few days of schedule. The weather widget is nice but the calendar widget is really nice--I would have a hard time going without that one.

It's not that it's a deal breaker (neither is nav, lack of size options/memory expandability, spare battery, etc)--it's just curious. It's a nice function they obviously don't want--seems strange. What does Apple have going for it anymore besides brand loyalty?

Now...back to all the super important other stuff we usually discuss on here!

You don't have to click on anything to open it. Little 2x2 square (or whatever size you want) that shows upcoming appointments.

Not a huge deal, but helps to have it visible before my alarm comes through.

Why do you plug your phone into your computer. That hasn't been necessary since like 2010 but maybe you're one of those guys that likes to go retro.

Beautiful hardware and a clean, robust, efficient OS.

I am eligible for a new phone and I have been toying with the idea of getting the GS4, but I think I will stick with my iPhone 5. I am very happy with it. We have a couple of GS4s in the family now and they are nice phones. Everybody is happy.

I haven't connected my iPhone to my computer in ages.
