Apple's stubborn refusal to not use micro-USB is one decision that I don't see how even the biggest Apple apologists can defend.
lol. I heart mpfunk.
Yeah, switching connectors will be a pain, but I really like the design of the new cord. As for no micro-USB, I can honestly say that that has not concerned me one tiny bit. Maybe you can educate me on why I should care.

And it only costs $29.00 to get an adapter for all your other chargers. No wonder everyone cheered the new charger.
Yeah, but they make the coolest adapters!
In seriousness, I have zero plans to buy an adapter. I don't even own a car charger and haven't in years (they are useful, i just havent really needed one). I don't own a docking component like a CD player or alarm clock (never liked those types of things). I do have a charger for my iPad, but that one wouldn't require an adapter.

I don't care about this too much (mostly because I don't have an iphone, and based on messing around with my friend's iphone 5, don't plan on getting one), but it seems strange that apple would go out of their way to create a brand new proprietary adapter that doesn't provide any benefit over micro usb. To Funk's point, this is starting to look like apple just wants to force people to buy more proprietary apple products, which is lame.

Because everyone and their dog has one, so I can borrow a charger. Because they're dirt cheap online. Because all of my car chargers have them.
This was a surprise and would have ticked me off had I bought the new iPhone. With all of Android using these, I think this will hurt Apple, because it's one less reason to switch over. I wouldn't be surprised if they fix it with next year's version.

Can you use the same charger for your iPad and iPhone?
(serious question)

Another real question I have--what happened when you all updated to iOS 6? Did you have to reinstall all your apps? It's been a while, but it seems like when I did this on my iPad for the update, I had to reinstall everything, which was a total PITA.

No, in fact I updated OTA, didn't even have to plug anything in.

The old cords were so cheap that I just bought a ton of them and sprinkled them all over the place (cars, office, home). I can just plug in wherever I want. Part of my motive is that my kids were always stealing my cords so I got tired of chasing them down and bought a bunch to overload the system.
I guess now I will need to carry a cord around until the new cords get cheap enough to buy in bulk.

if, by charger, you mean only the square power source, then yes, I believe you can since the only input is a standard USB outlet. The cords themselves are different now because the pin count is different on the iPhone 5, so you can no longer use those interchangeably. But there is no added costs to me there.
