Can't imagine why anybody would want to create office documents on a small tablet on a routine basis, but there you go.

being able to see comments/markup on office docs is pretty great.

              Good point.

Consuming/reviewing docs makes sense. Practicing presentations.

              • Now that iOS 8 is basically Android KitKat I may get an iPhone.

I think it is quite hilarious that Google and Apple came to a cease fire in regards to patent infringements right before this WWDC. I have to wonder if it was Apple who raised the issue because iOS 8 has adopted most of Android's differentiating features. It's funny reading a lot of comments about how iOS 8 is game changing with these new features when Android users have been using most of them since Jelly Bean was released.

BTW, I am not sure how well Apple Maps has developed, but the new release of Google Maps is terrific. I know I was pretty upset when Google integrated the maps and navigation apps. But I have gotten over it and admit that it is much more streamlined after a couple of tweaks to the UI.

                    • If you were to buy an Apple laptop today (i.e., not waiting for expected new offerings in the near future), what would you purchase and why? Assume home use mostly by kids for homework, no heavy gaming, some minimal home photo and video editing but nothing hard core. I'm partial to the Retina display on my iPhone 5 and iPad mini, but it isn't a necessity. TIA for any thoughts.

                          • Oops! LOL

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

                            • Apple recalls iPhone 5 batteries. Unfortunately, it is only for a 3-month production window.

                              http://www.news.com.au/technology/ga...-1227035871855

My 5 battery recently took a complete dump. It now only holds a charge for about a half day. On days when I wake up early and stay up late, I find I have to charge it twice during the day. Totally lame. It doesn't fall within the recall group, so it would seem I've got another 8 months with this problem.
