  • This new display is fabulous. I have been watching trailers with the Trailers app and the video quality is amazing. Like watching bluray. I may have to order me some 1080p movies from iTunes.

I hear rumors that NetFlix is going to start streaming 1080p on the new AppleTV. What about NetFlix streaming on the iPad? I can't seem to find anything. Uncle Ted?

It also seems like this iPad burns through the battery very quickly. Hopefully that is coincidental.

The display difference between 1 and 3 is amazing. I couldn't sleep last night so I did the same thing. I was tempted to download a couple of movies from iTunes. I did watch my slingbox and that was beautiful. Netflix in hd would be nice.

      I haven't had a battery problem.

          • I bought a Black and a White iPad yesterday. 64G WiFi.

We have never had them before...I know they are awesome, but I can't figure them out.

I wish there was a way to have two separate iTunes accounts and share the music between them. The iCloud is great...unless you try opening up your contact and calenders on your iPhone...to sync them to your iPad, only to find out that both you and your wife now have each others contacts and schedules on your iPads.

            Awesome.

Haven't really had a chance to play with it yet.

I have been reading some interesting things about 4G on the new iPad:

              (1) The new iPad with the Verizon hardware also works on the AT&T network: http://www.macrumors.com/2012/03/16/...att-micro-sim/

              (2) People are reporting some pretty good speeds using speedtest. For example, one iPad Verizon user reported 21.5 Mbps down and 10.7 Mbps up with only 3 bars of reception.

              (3) The Verizon iPad includes tethering.

I am starting to think that an iPad with Verizon 4G might just be worth the extra money. I haven't checked into what the cost and transfer limits are with Verizon, however.

Edit: Here are the data plans for AT&T and Verizon connected iPads (4G):

                  • Has this been a problem for anyone with the new ipad?

                    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/0...n_1366734.html

Reports that Apple's newly released iPad can become uncomfortably warm during use have now been confirmed with thermal imaging.

Infrared photos of Apple's new iPad and iPad 2 have been posted on Dutch website Tweakers.net on March 19, as pointed out by Engadget.

Testers equipped both tablets with the mobile device performance-monitoring app GLBenchmark and, after five minutes, recorded the temperatures of each of the devices at their hottest points.

According to the site, the lower right-hand corner of the new iPad was approximately 92.48 degrees Fahrenheit (33.6 degrees Celsius), while the same spot on the iPad 2 was about 82.94 degrees Fahrenheit (28.3 degrees Celsius), a difference of nearly 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

I haven't noticed a problem. It does get warm, but I wouldn't describe it as uncomfortably warm.

Despite featuring a high resolution display and LTE networking options, the new iPad’s battery almost equals the iPad 2.

CNET ran a torture test to compare how the battery of the new iPad compared with the iPad 2 running iOS 5.1 and 4.3. The site also compared the Android-powered Transformer Prime with and without a battery-embedded keyboard.

All of the tablets were compared by running the 720p version of “Toy Story 3” at 150 candela per square meter, which equates to a little less than half brightness on the iPads.

The Transformer Prime with keyboard dock lasted 15.3 hours to take the top spot. The iPad 2 running iOS 5.1, which drained after 14.2 hours, was second. The new iPad came in a respectable third with 12.8 hours.

Ironically, the iPad 2 running iOS 4.3 finished significantly lower than the iOS 5.1 version with 11.9 hours.

While the new iPad drained faster than the iPad 2, its 12.8 hours of battery life is still the second-highest result we’ve seen on a tablet using a single battery. Even compared with the Transformer Prime with its battery-embedded keyboard, the iPad lasted only 3 hours less. Even more impressive was that it achieved this running at that incredibly impressive 2,048×1,536-pixel resolution.
To power the new iPad, Apple increased the battery size and capacity dramatically. The iPad 2 sported a 6,944 mAh (25Wh) cell, but the new iPad’s battery is 11,666 mAh (42Wh).

That power does come at a price, though. Early reports say that the battery takes almost twice as long to charge to full capacity.

If you’ve purchased the new iPad, how is the battery life compared to the iPad 2? Is the Retina display worth the shorter battery life?
                            That's a much larger battery.

Been playing with this for a few days. Netflix streams at 1080p through this device. Not bluray quality, but very good.

I sold my old unit on Amazon in one day for $70. So the net cost to upgrade was ~$35-40 (factoring in amazon commission).
