2 things: I wanted to watch NBA league pass broadband. Amazingly, there is no iPad specific app for this, even though there is an iPhone app. Seems silly to surrender the benefits of my awesome screen by slumming it with an iPhone app stretched to be viewable on my iPad. Also, I wanted to stream an episode of American Horror Story from FX's site at lunch today. No dice.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

I would assume that an iPad app is coming if there is already an iPhone one.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

The NBA issue is annoying. Hopefully an app is coming soon. I'm surprised also. As Im sure you know, that is an NBA thing, not an Apple thing. Apple doesnt make the apps. (Neither does Apl.de.ap., fyi)Originally posted by Donuthole View Post2 things: I wanted to watch NBA league pass broadband. Re: American horror Story, that show contains sexual references and partial nudity so I don't feel bad that you can't use your iPad to watch it.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Plenty of others are aware of it since Android has a larger market share.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostThey must be unaware of all the different android devices available, including the gingerbread update.Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Interesting demo of the new iBooks2 and the first stab at support for interactive books. This will make textbooks for kids very interesting. And from my vantage point, we can now look to better penetrate the 3-8 year old market for children's interactive entertainment.
An interactive book is much more interesting to a small child than a regular e-book. The cross-platform branding opportunities are going to be huge as it pertains to gaming and edu-tainment.

i really wish there was a robust way to get textbooks on an ipad. i'm not sure if it's a licensing issue or if the publishers are just reluctant to release an easily-shared digital copy, but it would make students' lives a whole lot easier.Te Occidere Possunt Sed Te Edere Non Possunt Nefas Est.

Do magazines do this now? ?makes we wonder about the possibilities. Maybe a book that has interactive puzzles you have to solve to complete the book.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostInteresting demo of the new iBooks2 and the first stab at support for interactive books. Could be licensing as it pertains to in-book content. The ease of sharing is probably less of a concern, as you can always attached rights management to each unique book. Not bulletproof, but nothing is when you are talking about digital.Originally posted by camleish View Posti really wish there was a robust way to get textbooks on an ipad. i'm not sure if it's a licensing issue or if the publishers are just reluctant to release an easily-shared digital copy, but it would make students' lives a whole lot easier.
Here is one practical problem that I am seeing a lot at my work....these interactive textbooks are memory hogs. Largely a function of video, some of these 1 yr coursebooks can be as large as 4G! Admittedly, the average is closer to 2G but still, that is a lot of space on your device unless you have shelled out for a 64G model. If you have a 16G model, throw a few movies, an average amount of music, apps, and photos, and all of a sudden 2 interactive textbooks zaps the remaining free space. It would be almost impossible to house a semester's worth of interactive textbooks on a 16G device.
In the kid space, interactive e-books are an exciting landgrab right now. Greenfield opportunity and much easier to control in terms of file size. A textbook is usually hundreds of pages. You can make a killer e-book for small children that is maybe 20-30 pages, loaded with video, games, puzzles, coloring activities, weblinks, and then an MTX monetization factor that ties into your external IP....an MMO, for example. Presto....instant revenue stream. As a parent that takes little puffies to church, I would happily shell out $5 for an interactive e-book that is being updated with weekly content and that has a captive audience component to each page. That is golden stuff right there.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
