    I have a Roku and a Fire TV stick. I would prefer to go all Roku. My favorite feature is the headphones through the remote. Why is that not an option on every remote control?

      I have an (old) Apple TV and a couple of Amazon Fire Sticks, because they were on sale for like $25 (probably heard about that here).

      I like them both fine, except that, for some reason, the Amazon one can't stream MLB without seizing up every couple of minutes.

      Was thinking of picking up a Roku, or maybe the new Apple TV. What are the advantages of the Roku for you?

        I don't have the roku, but I think one of its distinct advantages is its dedicated remote and storage space for streaming-- that way it pre loads movies to eliminate buffering. Not sure how this would assist in live streaming, but it couldn't hurt.

          I like the remote better. And the remote has a headphone jack for your latenight viewing when you don't want to disturb others sleeping in the house. Also, the Roku universe of apps is far more extensive and flexible than Apple. You get native support of the Amazon Prime app (without having to mess with AirPlay). You also get native Plex support. Plex >>>>>>>> iTunes. However, I note that the new Apple TV will finally support Plex. I can't think of a single advantage of the Apple TV over Roku.

              apple tv is pointless unless you want to look at your ipad photos on your TV i guess.

                    Unless there's a marked improvement over the old version, I'm not going to get the new apple TV. I don't even know where it's at now; probably behind the TV somewhere.

                    Still playing with the idea of getting a roku.

                          You mean with the new apple tv, I have to go and buy expensive wireless Bluetooth headphones?!? What a rip. Roku let's me use the cheap headphones I already own.
