Sorry to disappoint. I had 2-3 much longer posts typed up but each one could reasonably be interpreted as abusive language, so I just went with a two word response. Wouldn't be kosher for the admin to be breaking the rules.Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostSuch wit!"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? You thought that DDD calling my experience a work of fiction was worthy of applause... I'll trust the two word response is probably as good as you were ever going to get.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostSorry to disappoint. What makes you think I was aiming for wit?Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostYou thought that DDD calling my experience a work of fiction was worthy of applause... I'll trust the two word response is probably as pithy as you were ever going to get.
I don't doubt that an encounter happened. The main story here is your interpretation of the events."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Now you are just distracting from the important point here, which is this: Baby boomers are responsible for everything that is wrong in the world.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostWhat makes you think I was aiming for wit?

I aplogize in advance for the random thought but everytime I read a Robin post (and I really enjoy reading them) I picture Chevy Chase dancing to the tune of "You can call me Al"Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostNow you are just distracting from the important point here, which is this: Baby boomers are responsible for everything that is wrong in the world."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. This is a little bit like saying that the current generation does nothing but text their stupid friends and read Twilight. What role do you suppose the dude at Home Depot played in inventing hippies?Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostBaby boomers invented hippies, switched to cocaine and disco, pioneered the Savings and Loan crisis, doubled down on real estate to create the current situation, borrowed heavily from China to ensure that Social Security wouldn't collapse before they were able to milk it to death, and will shed this mortal coil with the same grace they demonstrated in the 60's, the 70's, the 80's, and the 90's, which is to say their death will be expensive, drawn out, and will probably involve many night of them laying passed out in their own vomit. This is the generation that has made every decade since their youth about THEM. They are the most narcissistic generation ever.

To the extent that teaching a bunch of 18 - 22 year-olds puts me in touch with the current generation, I don't really have a problem with them. Sure, they read Twilight and text their stupid friends (sometimes during my lectures, can you believe it?), but they seem very earnest, sincere and big hearted. Anyhow, the reason we can pass judgment on the boomers is because they have done so much! The writing is on the wall. The best thing that can be said about the boomers is that some of their music, imho, is better than anything that has been made ever since.Originally posted by woot View PostThis is a little bit like saying that the current generation does nothing but text their stupid friends and read Twilight. The current version of the 18-22 year olds will lead us to our ruin.Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostTo the extent that teaching a bunch of 18 - 22 year-olds puts me in touch with the current generation, I don't really have a problem with them. This post had me seriously upset, Robin, until I reread it and realized you weren't at the Home Depot today. I was so worried you had gone out and broke the Sabbath!"In conclusion, let me give a shout-out to dirty sex. What a great thing it is" - Northwestcoug

Triplet! Shame on you. You are obviously conflating my work of 'fiction' (the first post) with a general truism, that when I or anyone is falsely accused of something, we don't typically respond to the accuser with common courtesy, a point I made in a completely different post in the thread.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Post
