DDD's post above had nothing to do with the thread in question. There was a thread somewhere a few days ago about using "LOL" as a compliment vs. ridicule. I wanted to applaud DDD but I wasn't sure what method he preferred.

Sorry to disappoint. I had 2-3 much longer posts typed up but each one could reasonably be interpreted as abusive language, so I just went with a two word response. Wouldn't be kosher for the admin to be breaking the rules.

You thought that DDD calling my experience a work of fiction was worthy of applause... I'll trust the two word response is probably as good as you were ever going to get.

What makes you think I was aiming for wit?

I don't doubt that an encounter happened. The main story here is your interpretation of the events.

Now you are just distracting from the important point here, which is this: Baby boomers are responsible for everything that is wrong in the world.

I aplogize in advance for the random thought but everytime I read a Robin post (and I really enjoy reading them) I picture Chevy Chase dancing to the tune of "You can call me Al"
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

This is the generation that has made every decade since their youth about THEM. They are the most narcissistic generation ever.
This is a little bit like saying that the current generation does nothing but text their stupid friends and read Twilight. What role do you suppose the dude at Home Depot played in inventing hippies?

To the extent that teaching a bunch of 18 - 22 year-olds puts me in touch with the current generation, I don't really have a problem with them. Sure, they read Twilight and text their stupid friends (sometimes during my lectures, can you believe it?), but they seem very earnest, sincere and big hearted. Anyhow, the reason we can pass judgment on the boomers is because they have done so much! The writing is on the wall. The best thing that can be said about the boomers is that some of their music, imho, is better than anything that has been made ever since.

The current version of the 18-22 year olds will lead us to our ruin.

... just as soon as they get back from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Man, what a bunch of good-fer-nuthen jack-yewts.

Gee Robin, what an amazing and insightful post and I am so impressed with your behavior but especially with your internal dialog. I am so glad you make these wonderful contributions to the board. How DARE anyone question you, even with a misunderstanding, especially someone from THAT generation? You are so special.
                          PLesa excuse the tpyos.

This post had me seriously upset, Robin, until I reread it and realized you weren't at the Home Depot today. I was so worried you had gone out and broke the Sabbath!
