Twenty years ago I was blasting an '85 Porsche 944 Turbo through some twisties up a canyon and was frustrated that I couldn't lose the VW Corrado in my rear view mirror. The Corrado with the G60 is one of the cars I love the most. Damn, I'd love to have one. When I had my Golf chipped a few years ago I took it to this shop in Aberdeen, MD. Out in front of their shop they had 3 beautiful Corrados sitting there.

And so damn much fun at the same time! That rush from ~3900 - redline was outstanding. Out on the open road it was perfect (70-145+ was a kick). In typical American stoplight-to-stoplight racing it wasn't very special.

I like the Acadia, but I prefer the Kia Sorento, just for the cost savings. Similarly equipped, the Sorento is about 12k less than the Acadia. And then there's that 100k mile warranty which is nice.

I'm intrigued by the GMC Terrain, which is a step down from the Acadia, but is much closer in price to the Sorento.

I have a friend with a Tourareg. He bought it off eBay from a dealership in Texas I believe. He's had a ton of electrical problems with it. He's also had lots of issues with the tire pressure monitoring system. He's had the packs and sensors replaced yet he still get the light on his dash that the tire pressure is low. He also was a bit miffed that his wife's Toyota Sienna had more get up and go than his car. This was at least 5 years ago so maybe they have worked out the issues. VW/Audi is notorious for electrical issues, but I am sure you knew that.

Edit: Sorry, not ragging on your ride. I am a VAG guy and love VW. I dig the Wolfsburg touches.

I love VW. First car was a '59 bug I got for $50, not running. Had a baja, sand rail, Rabbit, Ghia, and a 2nd bug. I now have a Passat that the instrument panel lights up like a christmas tree because of the electronics that have gone bad. I hate VW electronics.

Fortunately the only issue I ever had with my Golf was the window regulator issue that plagued all early 2000- VWs. The timing sucked though. I was packing my car to head back to school and rolled down the window and POP! The window just fell into the door. Had to empty the car and take it to the dealership the next day and my drive was delayed a day or two.

A middie is what I'm looking at. I don't want one of the huge ones. Just something that will do well in the snow commuting back and forth to downtown. Used is fine and even a bit rugged....I plan on throwing skis on top and stuff like that.

I want to hear the story behind KCs sled. He always seems to find some random person in Wyoming or Idaho that is willing to sell a nice car for under 10k.

If you want to stay loyal to Porsche, you could consider the Cayenne. There are a lot of them available these days.

I'm actually in the market for an SUV, but on the smaller side like yours. I don't want some massive SUV.

I almost called you today, but decided I didn't want to drop mine on a friend. Everything was still working well and in good shape but I had an unrelenting fear that it was about to die for some reason. So I traded it in this evening.

Ps why did you think it was going to die? I've been considering buying some old beater for super cheap and drive it until it dies. You car doesn't fall into that category, obviously, but I see a lot of old SUVs everywhere. I'm sure I could pick one up for pretty cheap.

My truck is an 08, I bought it in mid-August of 2008. I will pass over 100k sometime in the next couple of weeks. I had always thought that I would get rid of it before 100k, but now I am not sure. I hate buying cars, and it is running really well.

Is there any huge difference in reselling at under 95k vs 150k?

The transmission seemed to mis-shift about once a week. I did a little looking into it and that was a major expense when it goes out. And the transmission is known to go out on those. It was time to put new tires on, and that was another $1500 or so. A few other little minor things needed to be addressed. With the KBB and Nada value I would have felt bad selling it for that amount to a friend.
