What area do you want to practice in? In certain areas of my New Mexico there are plentiful opportunities, but you would have to be licensed. The recession is tightening things up a bit, but I think as a whole our state is under lawyered.

In certian parts of the state that underlawyering is acute and with a year or two of experience you could have a thriving solo practice. And I mean that.

Have you considered the FBI? They have a hiring track for applicants with a JD.

This is a good idea and something I hadn't thought of. I'm going to start researching this option.

I'm open to pretty much everything. I haven't found anything I don't like yet. What areas are you talking about, and what kind of opportunities are there to get experience?

Yep, I tried the FBI. They have a requirement that an applicant needs a three year full-time work history. They used to waive it for JD applicants, but they changed things so the JD is only worth a year. With that, I'm four months short of the requirement.
        Not that, sickos.

I forgot about that. Well you have an option at least if the JAG thing doesn't workout if you find out in December.

Go to Germany for a few months and look for work. Start your own business. Start your own firm and get on the PD list. Go to a local SBA or Entrepreneur Resources office and volunteer your services to start ups. Schedule an appointment with the Contracts office at HAFB and look into getting on the federal procurement track.

In the meantime, download every Matthew Bender template and form you can find on every subject on LexisNexis and save it to your HD for future use.

Nope. I spent 8 years at BYU without getting married.
