An iPhone gripe...

iTunes sucks, first and foremost. Very non-intuitive. Second, let me subscribe to podcasts over the air. I just starting using iTunes because of this issue. I love that I can download apps sans computer, I just wish I could do the same for podcasts.

Why don't they allow users to buy music via their phone? Seems like a pretty basic business model. Am I missing something?

You are missing something, unless the iPhone does not have technology that comes standard on an iPod touch 2g.

there has to be something missing from my phone. I can't imagine them not letting people buy music ota.

I have the iPod app as well as the app store, but not the so called iTunes store.

he probably said "iPhone," come to think of it. He didn't want to scratch it. If I ever see that guy in the gym again, you can bet I won't hold his iPhone so easily next time!

Very weird. I'd suggest a factory settings reset. Or you can call/e-mail Apple Support and see what they say.
