I'm going to purchase CougarIrishForum.comOriginally posted by Uncle Ted View PostI don't know what y'all are complaining about. Hell, we don't even have a rival anymore. Having one of them live in your stake and you saying hi to them twice a year at stake conference does not constitute "knowing them personally".Originally posted by Scratch View PostI meant several total between the two departments. I apologize if I didn't fully proofread my post to make sure it could not be misconstrued.

The implication was that you knew them well enough as to have some sort of inside knowledge of the BYU legal department and how it reacts to certain situations.Originally posted by Scratch View PostAin't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

You asked me how many I know personally. I answered that question based on the definition of "personally," which is the term you first used. Additionally, once you asked more, I told you how I know them personally. If the term "personally" potentially carried implications to you beyond the ordinary use of the word, you may have wanted to use a different term.Originally posted by falafel View PostThe implication was that you knew them well enough as to have some sort of inside knowledge of the BYU legal department and how it reacts to certain situations.

I guess the implication was lost on you. I guess that also means that you'd like to walk back your assertion that have you personal and reliable knowledge of how the legal departments of either institution would react.Originally posted by Scratch View PostYou asked me how many I know personally. Actually, as I stated in a thread above, my belief (and as I mentioned before, it is nothing more than a belief or guess) as to how either department would react has much less to do with any relationships (personal or otherwise) and much more to do with my understanding of the two institutions. So in other words there is nothing to walk back on, because I never made the assertions that you are attributing to me.Originally posted by falafel View PostI guess the implication was lost on you. Although, truth be told, the best information for me is the fact that I have requested documents from other institutions that deal with the U, as well as with numerous other institutions other than BYU. I have only been contacted by one institution's legal department (unless you count the Texas AG's office, which informed me that certain documents pertaining to B12 and P12 expansion were being withheld due to the fact that they dealt with ongoing negotiations).

Hey! Shut up you!Originally posted by falafel View PostI move for the immediate expulsion of all Ute fans.
Kicking them out now would be a kindness, really. Put them out of their misery now instead of watching them writhe and suffer for the next who knows how long, waiting for the magic moment when they realize things HAVE changed and the change is significant enough for them to leave anyway.
I nominate DU Ute as the first to get the guillotine.

Can you tell us more about why BYU contacted you? Did you make a request to them for contract information? What did they say to you? What was your response?Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

They contacted me to ask why I was making the requests, and encouraged me to cease making the requests, but stopped short of demanding or actually asking me to stop. They didn't really ask for a yes or no response. As I recall, I acknowledged the request but never really said whether or not I would make any more requests. I informed them that I was just a fan who was interested in the subject matter of the requests.Originally posted by falafel View PostOkay, so no reliable evidence. That's all I was getting at.

Frankly, I don't believe I've asked for anything related to BYU since they reached out to me, primarily because I have a great deal of respect for my acquaintance* in the BYU legal department. Also, while I do get some enjoyment out of friendly back-and-forth with my rival's fans, if BYU cares enough to encourage me to stop I'll give some weight to that request. That's not to say it won't happen again if there's something I really care about, but I'm not going to ruffle feathers for something that really isn't terribly important.
Oh, and I never asked BYU for anything. I have a pretty good idea of what any private institution would say to me if I asked for documents from them.
*I hope this characterization is acceptable. Please let me know if you would like further clarification.
