LOL! Thanks for the new title.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostRobinFinderson, come on brother.....take the kleenex boxes off your feet, put down the huge ball of string and the silverware, turn off "Ice Station Zebra," and slow down for a second.
Nobody has tried to run you off this site (least of all Babes, to whom nobody listens, anyway.....that's right, I'm defending myself now, suckas). You are a welcome and valuable contributor here. Like everyone else, you arrived here with baggage. It takes time to shed the baggage. Also, the time frame is different with every person. Be patient.
I think you may want to consider posting less of the wholesale calls for changes....the boat-rocking, as it were. History is replete with examples of game-changing boat rockers. However, what we often forget is that for every Martin Luther out there, we never hear much about his brother Melvin Luther, the guy that was burned at the stake for passing to the parish priest a napkin covered with simple suggestions on how to make Mass more fun (example: MORE crazy smoking lanterns swinging on chains, please!)
I appreciate your pep, vim, and vigor to improve this place, but a good lobbyist knows his audience, knows when to speak up, and knows when to sit down.
This is my own personal observation here, but I am suggesting that it is time to sit down and stop rocking the boat. Post about whatever you wish, but stop calling people out, making assumptions, and stop complaining about the site and its procedures. The fact that you are here, when this group is largely comprised of everyone on cougarguard save one or two key people, should be sufficient enough to calm your frazzled nerves. Nobody here is out to get you. But I have a sneaking suspicion that many will grow tired of the lectures and grandstanding.
My advice: put down the hammer, the nail, and the other 94 theses that you are dying to share with everyone. Burn those. Then, chill out, light some incense, and continue to regale the group with stories of your travels, your photos, your family, your garden, and your adventures in substance abuse and desert conclaves with hippies.
I, for one, am always interested in hearing what you have to say. But I am no longer interested in hearing why you dislike the speakeasy or the site.
All good things to those who wait.
Respect. Booyakasha!
This isn't about the SE, which you convinced me is worthwhile. Also, I like the board. I think you are reading a lot into my wish that the SE would have more egalitarian entry requirements that would basically allow ALL committed members of the community to be a part. I would like to think that I would feel that way regardless of my inside/outside status.
Recent developments in this thread simply came from my reflection on Santos' thoughts. They struck a chord, in large part because I remember how sucky it felt to want to participate on CG, but feeling like certain parties were making it impossible to ever get a fair shake. I was one of those parties that made it difficult, just as Lingo is one of the parties in making it difficult to accept him here today.
My hope that we can be a nicer people is largely a personal reflection on how I have contributed to a climate that makes it so difficult for Lingo to come out of the wilderness. For me, in particular, this is hypocritical in the extreme. How you came to interpret my hope that here at CUF we can cultivate a kinder culture, the kind of place where the Lingos (and finderson 1.0's) can transition into contributing members of a community, as having to do with the SE is a little weird.
That is just the point. I hope we can be nicer. The community handed out the first publicly discussed suspension, which seemed like a good idea (considering the behavior) and it seemed like a reasonable moment for some community self-reflection. We can be nicer. I can be nicer. That is the sum of it. Good grief and Oh brother!Last edited by RobinFinderson; 10-23-2009, 04:57 PM.

I omitted you because we were discussing Babes's inability to admit her failures.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostIt's Friday night and everyone just needs to go home and have a good weekend. Blech...
I'm more than a little tired of DDD pretending I don't exist. Niku and Babs this, Niku and Babs that. May I remind you that I too was there to witness you asking the poor girl at the ice cream counter for a fitday breakdown of the peanut butter buster sundae?
If you don't answer this, so help me...
She did not regret inviting you and your wife. Why do you think she was begging you to join us? And why do you think she agreed to wait when you guys were taking 40 minutes to cross the street and get to the car?......ha!Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I was also going to flesh out a humorous "John of Arc" bit, but I couldn't remember enough historical detail off the top of my head re: Joan to make it work.Originally posted by RobinFinderson View PostLOL! Thanks for the new title.

I love this thread so much.
Babs and I are friends (even though she won't click the stupid invite to make it public).
With that said, I would never ever want to be on the stand as a hostile witness against her. She's going to make one helluva a lawyer."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
