Babs can be adroit with the verbal barb (!), but I've never seen her be genuinely cruel to anyone, except to DDD and, as noted above, and no one questions the appropriateness in that case.

And Creekster, the speedo point is simply this -- you've pointed out that I might not be giving Babs a fair shake, and I brought up the speedo point to say that yes, perhaps my prior experience with having her try to REALLY get me run off the board has made me see her differently than others see her. I'm ceding the point.

Babs, I'm sorry for calling you cruel to wuap. I thought you were, but my bias may have unfairly colored my view. Apparently others didn't see it, and I can admit that I may have been wrong.

So, Creekster, having admitted that I am far from a perfect vessel for this message, is it okay for me to believe and talk about my hope that the board become a nicer, more gentle place? A place where even Lingo, with his ridiculous and obvious insecurities, might have a chance to become a better self, without our picking on those insecurities?

PAC, no matter how many times Lingo insists that he isn't here to make friends, that is just not true. If we were to see this kind of behavior in one of our own children, we wouldn't believe it. We would see it as a sad, desperate, defensive move, and we would hope that others would recognize that and show our child a bit of kindness and patience.

We would see it as a sad, desperate, defensive move, and we would hope that others would recognize that and show our child a bit of kindness and patience.

Robin, I appreciate the kindness inherent in this response and I actually share it in large measure. But I react differently toward the insecurities of an eight-year old and those of an adult several years out in the workplace. That doesn't mean one should be uncivil toward the troubled adults, but if I'm told enough times they don't want to be friends, I believe them and move on.

RobinFinderson, come on brother.....take the kleenex boxes off your feet, put down the huge ball of string and the silverware, turn off "Ice Station Zebra," and slow down for a second.

Nobody has tried to run you off this site (least of all Babes, to whom nobody listens, anyway.....that's right, I'm defending myself now, suckas). You are a welcome and valuable contributor here. Like everyone else, you arrived here with baggage. It takes time to shed the baggage. Also, the time frame is different with every person. Be patient.

I think you may want to consider posting less of the wholesale calls for changes....the boat-rocking, as it were. History is replete with examples of game-changing boat rockers. However, what we often forget is that for every Martin Luther out there, we never hear much about his brother Melvin Luther, the guy that was burned at the stake for passing to the parish priest a napkin covered with simple suggestions on how to make Mass more fun (example: MORE crazy smoking lanterns swinging on chains, please!)

I appreciate your pep, vim, and vigor to improve this place, but a good lobbyist knows his audience, knows when to speak up, and knows when to sit down.

This is my own personal observation here, but I am suggesting that it is time to sit down and stop rocking the boat. Post about whatever you wish, but stop calling people out, making assumptions, and stop complaining about the site and its procedures. The fact that you are here, when this group is largely comprised of everyone on cougarguard save one or two key people, should be sufficient enough to calm your frazzled nerves. Nobody here is out to get you. But I have a sneaking suspicion that many will grow tired of the lectures and grandstanding.

My advice: put down the hammer, the nail, and the other 94 theses that you are dying to share with everyone. Burn those. Then, chill out, light some incense, and continue to regale the group with stories of your travels, your photos, your family, your garden, and your adventures in substance abuse and desert conclaves with hippies.

I, for one, am always interested in hearing what you have to say. But I am no longer interested in hearing why you dislike the speakeasy or the site.
