ANd so yet again, is this you showing meekness or kindness? When you preface your pleas with something as mean spitited as this it sounds like so much self-serving hot air, at least to me. We should all be meek and kind except you, when you want to tell somone else to be meek and kind. Is that about it?

I ask my kids to be nice on a regular basis. This doesn't mean I am always nice. Robin's call to be nicer is on point whether he is perfect in that sense or not.

I'm not sure, but that doesn't change my basic point (and I'm not perfect at this, but I still believe it): We can be nicer. We can be more patient. We can be more forgiving. We can create space for the sinner to repent. We should offer encouragement and kindness.

Robin, Lingo's statement that he's not here to make friends wasn't a single utterance born of insecurity, as you seem to characterize it, but has been repeated many times, in different threads and to individuals, and has been expressed as an apparent point of pride.

Your call for a kinder, gentler board is well-intentioned and good. The community is very tolerant and forgiving of occasional screw-ups or misstatements (we've all made them). But Lingo's repetitious declarations make it seem as if tolerance or forgiveness isn't high on his wish list.

look, no one expects oyu to be perfect. But nayone that tells everyone to be nice ahile AT THE SAME TIME calling someone mean and cruel is pretty amusing to me. It's like my old man telling telling me not to smoke as he exhaled some blue marlboro man fumes in my face. So I dont expect you or anyone to be perfect but maybe at least as long as it takes to string a post together you can be consistent?

Anyone who would describe Babs as ever having been "incredibly cruel" has either led a charmed life or has a tendency to overshoot by a country mile when describing anything. Best to keep one's verbal powder dry for when it really matters.

Babs can be adroit with the verbal barb (!), but I've never seen her be genuinely cruel to anyone, except to DDD and, as noted above, and no one questions the appropriateness in that case.

Finally, I'm trying to decide if it's cool or lame that a 57 year-old grandpa enjoys, in small doses, the soap opera aspects of an internet message board. Okay, I'll go with lame, but I can't help myself.

There's no doubt babs was unabashedly cruel to wuap on his first two days, but 1) he so asked for it, and 2) one would think that would be a matter between babs and wuap, not between robin and babs and wuap.
