Nominations for the 2009 Cuffies

    Nominations for the 2009 Cuffies

    Nominations are now open for the 2009 Cuffies. Given our penchant for arbitrariness and caprice, we’ve changed the categories somewhat from last year, and they will undoubtedly be changed again next year. Through Tuesday, January 12, nominations will be accepted for the following categories. Feel free to post nominations in this thread, or boardmail them to me. After conferring with friends, accepting bribes and examining the entrails of doves, we’ll announce between three and five nominees for each category, and the polls will then be open to all members of the CUF Academy (and if you’re reading this, you’re a member). Voting instructions will be given at that time. When nominating a post or thread, please provide a link.

    The 2009 CUFFY Categories:

    MVP
    Rookie of the Year
    Wittiest Poster
    Best Performance in a Gentile Role (this could be for a single post, or for a body of work)
    Best Post
    Best Post in the Foyer
    Best Thread
    Most Annoying 2009 CUF Trend (and perhaps the Cuffy Awards should be one of the nominees)


    You don’t need to make nominations in every category. Let the nominating begin.

          These categories suck. Half of them are for people, not posts. Can we please revise the categories?

              I already did. The result was BYU getting rid of his girlfriend. This set of categories is more of that. I'm disappointed. The categories show little imagination and will become a popularity contest. Good posts should win awards, not people. MVP maybe. But Wittiest Post is much better than Wittiest Poster.

                    We can keep these categories and call them The PACkies. While not as prestigious as the Cuffies, they can serve as a predictor, much like the Golden Globes and the Oscars.

                            It's a little unfair to expect so much of the CUFfies, given that our SU imitation contest will have been the best contest we have done in the last year. But still, nothing wrong with it.

                            I hereby nominate myself for all categories. And this post for all categories.

                              can I nominate the SU-off as the best contest of the year? I really want to, but I hesitate to do so without your authorization.
