Well, he did say that he did the digging in Colorado. It only seemed like he dug clear to Missouri. (He could have been an early fracker, with a horizontal dig?) While Missouri has Whiteman AFB, home of the stealth bomber wing, Colorado has the Air Force Academy and NORAD. Both probably targets of interest.
