But given his remarkably consistent pattern of flouting the rules of the communities he has long bedeviled, his efforts to become an active part of this community are akin to those of a termite seeking to become an active part of my house. No thanks.
I'm just not comfortable banning someone for behavior on other boards.

I haven't read this thread very closely, so maybe I missed it. But I recall that Moose decided to leave on his own. After repeatedly requesting to have his account banned, he finally posted his username and password. I remember this because I immediately logged in as Moose, and started to post a series of apologetic posts, as if Moose were trying to redeem himself. I didn't have any long-term plans for that, and wasn't to maintain the Moose account as a dupe. I just figured it would be funny to post a few times as Moose, and didn't put any more thought into it than that. After I received a mild scolding from a member of the EC, that was the end of that.

But I hope that clarifies what led up to his ban. He made a big fat scene and then posted his PW.

I think you're thinking of someone else.

This is good enough for me. Gracias.

Could be... who was that then whose account I temporarily doppelganged?

But he wasn't banned for behavior on other boards. He was banned because of his behavior on this board; his prior activities merely confirmed the belief that he was irredeemable. Think of it as introducing prior convictions during the penalty phase of the trial, not that we needed more evidence.

Our board is populated with a number of folks whose CUF personas are a big improvement over what they might have been on other boards. We welcome such redemption. But when a person begins here by breaking the rules multiple times, despite warnings, and his past behavior demonstrates that annoying others is apparently his raison d'etre, that person will get the hook, as Moose did.

When it was evident that Flattop-USS Utah were the same poster, he was asked if he wanted the accounts combined, they were. He stated he couldn't remember his previous password, which is a viable explanation. Furthermore, his original account was not banned. He took a sabbatical of his own doing for his own reasons. You are comparing apples-oranges.

All true, but it is somewhat ironic that Flattop is taking up the EC's cause when he was given a free pass on dupe accounts (did I really just say "the EC"?)

If I took up the "EC's" cause, it was only because I felt like offering my perspective as message board manager.

                          • I couldn't believe when I saw this thread had over 100 posts. My first thought was "wow, we are really bored".

Then I read and saw that it got Robin to talk about logging in as other people, which is uh interesting I guess. I also scrolled past a few Rosebud and her strange foot avatar posts, so was there something that Moose said or did that implied how awful the speasy is/was? It has made me wonder if falafel is thinking of switching to criminal defense practice?

All that is missing is Goat telling falafel to pull the string, YO to make fun of LaUte, LaUte to talk about the 79 NCAA championship game at the Hunty and SU to reference Mark Peterson and it might be the holy grail.

Seriously, is this like the slowest summer ever? Or does it just seem that way because PACmas was last summer?
