I am disturbed by why this is so important to you and why you obviously feel entitled to know these things when you say you're not. You've done as much dancing as anyone in this thread.

This has already been addressed. Each situation is considered by itself. It's not a court of law. We don't have minimum or maximum sentences based on the offense.

Does the committee make up new rules for each situation? If you aren't applying the same set of rules to each distinct set of facts, what are you doing?

I don't believe this because you already believe his banning to be a little arbitrary and capricious.

If someone came out and said they banned Moose because they do whatever they want and don't care about process, you think I wouldn't believe them? That is the definition of arbitrary and capricious. Of course I would believe them. That is, in fact, what I believe happened. If you said that's what happened, I would believe you and stop asking questions. But I don't think you're willing to admit that.

Then again, being a Christian, I believe in forgiveness (dadgummit...). If you can come in through the front door, wipe your shoes, blow your nose on a kleenex and not on your sleeve, and in general treat people with the respect they deserve, then maybe I could see letting you have a second chance.

Yes, I've seen that very early post by Moose. Since then, he's done very little trolling, if any. Mostly because he hasn't even been allowed to post. Once he's discovered, he's gone. I think he averages 2 posts or less across all of his dupes. If he were really interested in continuing to troll this board, I would think he'd try to make the most of those 2 posts by posting something inflammatory. But he hasn't done that.

Instead, he's posted this:

I pre-judged this board and I was wrong. I actually enjoy many of the discussions on this board, especially politics and religion.

I hope the powers that be will accept my apology and allow me to participate on the board.

As I've said before, maybe he is just an incredibly persistent (and stupid) troll. Or maybe he really wants to contribute to the community here. I don't think he was really ever given the chance to do that. His first week on the board was annoying (although JL claimed to enjoy it) and childish, but last I checked we let Lingo and Hallelujah gone on for years like that.

Yeah, this is the trap of asking the powers that be for an answer. If you ask why, you're impertinent. If you ask them to be kind enough to explain why, you're impertinent. You can do the direct route, like me, and get pilloried, or you can try and be polite, and catch shit for "disturbing" questions.

falafel, perhaps you should consider a bit further your observation that Moose Stubing's Whistle myriad dups are compelliing evidence that he really really wants to be a part of this community. If ever, in the many years I've observed his behavior on multiple boards, I had seen any positive contribution or genuine contrition from him, then I might be inclined to reconsider. But given his remarkably consistent pattern of flouting the rules of the communities he has long bedeviled, his efforts to become an active part of this community are akin to those of a termite seeking to become an active part of my house. No thanks.

Honest to God, I was not able to log in with my old log in.

In any case, I was never a troll, nor was I ever banned. So my case and Moose's case are apples and oranges.
