A scattered profile:
I'm here because: (a) Triplet D is one persuasive mofo and (b) I have no reason not to stop in. Also (c) you all seem like such nice people.
I'm not here because: I feel alienated or annoyed by Cougarboard.
I'm listening to: the phones are on and am listening to my James-Smashing-Pumpkins-Wolf Parade channel on Pandora.
I'm not listening to: The Foo Fighters - just gave another one of their songs the thumbs down on Pandora. I like them fine. I just think they're overrated and don't think they ever wld have got a record deal if it wasn't for the Nirvana link.
I read: Every single day of my life I visit Slate.com, WSJ.com, telegraph.co.uk, hotair.com, thedailybeast.com, newser.com. I subscribe to two publications: The Economist and Monocle (the latter most people haven't heard of, costs too much and I love it but would never pay for it unless someone gave me the subscription as a gift).
I rate: Jack White as the most compelling, innovative and influential artist of the last decade.
I like: BYU football, good writing, good cinema, mountains, coasts, big cities, small town, solitude, family, Diet Dr Pepper, new places, old places, people that make me think.
I recently watched and recommend: "In the Loop" with Peter Capaldi and James Gandolfini - bloody hysterical Brit parody.
I eat: Most things that look delicious and don't have ground mystery meat.
I really like to eat: Indian, Japanese, pizza, pierogis, peanut butter and honey on toast, chocolate chip cookies, blueberries.
I hate: That stupid popular Black Eyed Peas song - don't they have a Jewish producer who could at least flag their retarded usage of "mazal tov"?
I preach: catastrophic anthropogenic global warming is the greatest fraud in the history of science; there is no evidence that the humans have played a primary role in the warming that has occurred since 1850, no evidence that the warming that occurred was abnormal or problematic, and no evidence that if were problematic we could do anything about it will silly cap-trade legislation. If you want to fight me on this let's do it. You might be surprised to find out that the science is on my side.
I vote: For who I want. Our political system never stops disappointing me with its failure to attract to people who will think and act independently. Both parties have disgusted me in my lifetime but there's no question that Democrats disgust me more frequently and on more issues.
I work: for FORA.tv a company I co-founded four years ago with three other dudes in San Francisco (and I try to never end sentences with the words "with three other dudes in San Francisco").
I laugh at: Richard Dawkins. Dude has become a caricature of himself. His variety of atheism is every bit as narrow and thoughtless as any southern evangelical's fundamentalism.
I believe: God lives, the human soul is immortal, Jesus Christ is the Savior, the Book of Mormon is what it claims to be, and "there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."
I know: Most of the things I just said I believe.
I realize: I sometimes come across as a jerk in public forums and try hard not to. Pretty much everyone that knows me thinks I'm really nice. Hopefully that will come through.
